This a million times!
When I met up with @Tcoat (yes, he does exist; yes, he is employed; yes, he does look like Ned Flanders), we both talked about this: we have never had any issues keeping up with traffic. In fact, I shift at 2.5-3k rpm to be economical, and find myself generally at the front of the pack.

I have enough power to pass when I need to - and if I don't have enough power to pass someone, it's usually because I don't really need to.

EDIT: fumanchu lives in Quebec. The running joke is that Quebecers are the fastest drivers in Canada (see Jacques Villeneuve) so if he has enough power, the rest of us should certainly be fine (in Toronto, it's more about dodging clueless drivers).

And angry reply... Go...
I don't have any problem passing, drop it down dump clutch go. I do have a habbit of zigging thru traffic because the car can, even though I shouldn't I know.

I came to the BRZ from a couple of WRXs ('08 and '11). I love the handling and steering feel of the BRZ but I really miss the acceleration of the '11 WRX. The BRZ would have to have 40% more torque to have the same loaded torque to weight ratio as the WRX. I think 40% more torque would be just right. I don't really need more power around town but I seriously miss the torque when trying to pass people on 2-lane country roads.

My lease is up in August and if I were going to buy out the BRZ I'd definitely go FI, probably Phantom ESC, but then I'd also want to do suspension and brakes... and audio... and...

I was stirring the pot a little previously, but think about it like this...

I'll bet almost all of you have a pretty late model iPhone / similar smart phone.
Why?
99% of people don't need that processing power. They send messages (basic text), make calls (mobiles from the beginning can do this) and perhaps looks at a few Facebook posts.
It's total overkill. Yet we all upgrade to the next best thing every year or two.

You do it cos you can.

There's no right answer on the power issue because it just comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer more power because they like straight-line speed; others want a lower power car they can downshift and redline in daily driving because they enjoy that. Neither is wrong; it's about what you enjoy.

However it does annoy me when people say the car needs more power for daily driving. If that was true nobody could daily drive these cars. Obviously that's not the case. The car doesn't need anything else for daily driving. What people really mean is they wish the car had more power for X reason (want to beat Camaro/Mustang or don't want to downshift to pass or don't want to have to redline to beat minivan, etc.) Those are all fine reasons to want more power, but that's different from saying the car needs it. If you are physically capable of downshifting, then you should easily be able to make all the passes you need to in this car (or pretty much any modern car) in your daily commute.

Bought my 17 year old a Scion TC this past weekend (he wanted one like his older brother who I bought one for too).

Good lord driving that thing felt like I was being punished and forced to take a timeout in the corner!!!

They are awesome little cars but DAMN putting the pedal to the floor at highways speeds literally lurches you forward!!!! instead of throw you back in the seat LMAO.

I must admit though, that miserable performance is part of the reason I dont mind buying those cars for my sons. Not really fast enough to get into trouble very quickly.
Even if you are trying to speed it takes a while to get there, LOL.

Its a hella great little car, sporty, fun, and cool.
But its hella slow.

You drive a C7. Every car on the road is going to feel like a slow piece of crap to you now. You are ruined for life.

I'd argue that a lot of cars feel good and deliver feels. This car is definitely an entry level car, but it feels better than it is.

I think that is anyone's problem when they have driven something fast......

I've driven a few rockets but they've all felt numb compared to this one. Entry-schmentry, there might even be better little ones but I can't fit in those.

I don't really want to be Speed Racer as much as "safely" feel like him.
