A/C Shifts off when accelerating hard?
Just something I noticed and wondering if something is wrong with my car, or if it is a design perk. When I accelerate to redline, the A/C starts blowing warmer air. When I let off the gas, it starts blowing cold air again. So has Subaru actually designed this car to shut off the A/C compressor under hard acceleration to give us more horsepower and then kick back in when you ease up on it?
Thanks Um, how do I edit the title? Mistype. LOL Last edited by ichitaka05; 06-17-2012 at 09:31 PM. |

Haha, I didn't notice until you said something...
Also, I believe the G35/37 and Z do this as well so you get all your horses moving you, less lost to comfort.

I think it is a safety mechanism since the a/c is driven by the belt and could be damaged at high rpm.

Most modern cars do this, it disengages the magnetic AC clutch.

Subaru listed this as a feature on the '02 USDM WRX. Pretty sure it's been standard on their cars since.
