I don't know the age of the German one. It came with the house. Never liked her.

The new one will be here on the 31st. It will be from either Louisville KY, Decatur AL, LaFayette GA, Selmer TN, or Camden SC. Going Murican.

You mean “Assembled in the Excited States of America” right? I’ll bet you that all the electrics and most of the mechanical stuff will have been made in Asia.
Oh for the days of Zenith, Westinghouse, General Electric, Inglis et al where everything was sourced in North America.

GE says their " Made in America" appliances have 70% - 90% U.S.-based components.

Really? I did not know that. I'm surprised it's that high.

GE is owned by Haier, a Chinese company.

Last week, my 68 year old water heater ceased to function.
Lost it's ability to self regulate and overcame the safety valve's limits.
Had to put 'er down.

Who carries 70 year old appliance components anymore?
Have hot water again, but only an 8 year warranty. How did that happen?

RIP

Was it wood or coal burning?

I've never had one last more than about 10-12 years. A couple times I've come home to a flooded garage.
