Thanks a million for your posts man! I too was hoping for some feedback from you on Evora Vs. FT86 and I was absolutely not disappointed at all. I left posting on forums for years because I felt they were very time draining and too often misunderstandings and conflicts and arguments happen which sad but these are the limits of technology. But coming back now and reading posts like yours giving real feedback on Evora Vs. FT86 and other posts by others here, I am reminded of why it's fun dwell on forums ![]() |

May as well throw in my 2c also as I’m a bit of a Lotus nut. The steering in the Evora is pretty fantastic, definitely the best setup I’ve had with power steering by far. I owned a couple of Elises previously and must say the feel and feedback from the Elise steering was next level. I’ll always miss that, but the Evora (and 86) can fit our daughter in!
![]() The Evora is an event every time you drive it (the sound ![]() The steering feel (and weighting) of the Gen 1 86 (to me) is brilliant for a modern car. Weirdly it very fondly reminds me of the excellent hydraulic power steering setups in some of the 80s / 90s driver focused Peugeot’s that I owned years ago. Also, just to help dispel some of the Lots of Trouble Usually Serious myths. I’ve owned three lotus, over almost 20 years and the I only notable issue I’ve had across many hard km and track days is a head gasket failure on my Rover VVC. They’re a lot tuffer than their reputation. |

So awesome. 100% single dad so def need a 2+2. No issues with my Elises. Unfortunately, first year Evoras and especially the launch edition Evoras were notorious for being poorly built. '12 had big QC upgrades and they just got better from there. Mine was sold 4 times in 2 years or something like that lol. And one major issue of Elises, especially when i was in Texas is that no one and I mean no one can see you. I was stopped. Lady in a Cayenne never saw me. Its a thing and the twins are also small. Really have to be on the defensive |

No sweat! I've definitely been an ass. And this is my first time to really engage in a car forum. Def had the wrong attitude at times. Even towards automatic owners with a superior attitude lol. Not cool. Anyways, definitely better to be friendly and makes it a lot of fun. |

Just imagine yourself sitting across the person sharing a couple beers and it changes the tone. Text always comes across so harsh compared to spoken word.

It's limitation with what you can convey using technology. Even now with smiles and emojis and decades of experience in forums, it's still puzzling to understand where the other person is coming from. I'm even struggling professionally, having worked face to face previously and now I work with the same people using zoom and whatnot and it's just not the same at all. A colleague warned me about this but now I experienced it first hand and it is a real struggle. I'm still super thankful such forums exist nonetheless.... where else will you find a 6 page post on steering feedback on a car that sells in such small numbers, people constantly ask me what is it and they can't believe it's a Subaru. |

Seriously! I've only had my BRZ a week and I've almost had trucks merge on top of me twice. Time for a big orange dune flag.

Mine is 17 too. It only cut out on me once. I was doing donuts in snow. I think I did like 5 power oversteer donuts in the snow in a row and then the power steering shut off. I've owned the car for years since then and took it to a whole lot of everything. Including more snow drifting, ice racing, autocross, open track, HPDE. The most aggressive tires I ever used were I believe bridgestone RE 71 something on 225 17 inch. Never ever had the power steering shut off again. I'm in the bandwagon of wishing for more feedback even if I have to deal with a power steering system that might shut off on you. I read somewhere that fat tires are the main cause of modern sports cars lacking feel. I think the original FT86 was focused on feel and fun rather than outright numbers and I'd rather they stick to that. Plenty of other cars out there focused on numbers. If people want numbers they can always buy the Supra or Nissan Z or Porsche or Corvette... the list goes on. For feel the list is very short and is getting shorter. We need to gang up and design our own car LOL |
