Help: Rubber Mud Flap/wheel house plate(?) Broken

I can't seem to find answer anywhere about this, maybe I just need to find the right word for this thing in order to find it.

On the rear wheel wheelhouses of the BRZ, there is a rubber "flap" or I guess you can call it mud guard (?) toward the front of the wheelhouse. This is not the one you can buy and install to reduce road dirt damage to the vehicle, those are installed toward the rear of the wheelhouse arch.


Anyway, this "flap" thing seems to be secured with 2 plastic fasteners to the body but mine got torn off of the front fastener on BOTH side. They kinda flap in the wind and make a horrendous howling noise when I'm driving at speed. At least I think that's what's making that noise.
I try to reattach it back to the plastic fastener but the rubber was torn around the fastener hole, so after 3000 miles I checked it, it was back to the flapping-in-the-wind state.

Checked a Part list here and this is what I found:


They call it "PLATE, REAR WHEEL HOUSE, FRONT"

Have anyone had this issue? Since mine is broken on both side I'd thought it'd be a common problem. Where would you get a replacement part for this? would something like this be covered in the factory warranty?

You can order it from any dealership parts department. It'll likely not be covered by warranty, because these bits don't usually fail for a manufacturing reason - they usually break after hitting something.

I agree with @jawn -- most likely not covered by warranty. Did you hit or run over something to cause it to break? One of mine was broken as well but I know it was likely because I went off-road at a track day. Never bothered to replace it though, just let it hang/flap too but it didn't make much noise or bother me too much.

The other option, if you have collision or comprehensive insurance coverage for your car, is to make a claim that you presumably ran over or hit something, and they will replace for you. Depending on your deductible and the cost of the repair it might not make sense to do this though.

Maybe find out how much it would cost to buy the replacements at a Subaru dealer, if it's not too expensive it looks like it would be relatively easy to replace yourself. Just the two fastener/clips holding it on. Let us know what you find out!

Found the part which is different then what thomasmryan posted below. This part is what matches the part missing/broken on my FRS.

It appears the part number is:
Stone Guard - Toyota (SU003-01556)

eBay has the used part listed as 59123CA020 which is printed on the part, But every new part store has that listed as a different style part.

But I still have not received the part so I can't confirm the part number to be correct.

I stapled the torn part to keep the hole sized properly and used a body clip with a wide head to secure it again. When they are torn and flapping, they do make quite a racket at speeds over 65-70mph.

I just repaired mine yesterday with a bicycle tire patch.
