If its Sprintex's own intercooler like I have, the horn is taken off but then put back in the same place when the IC brackets are installed.

Don't really care!

The more relevant question is, "What taper thread standards are used in the automotive world, and what standards are in use on the 86s?"

Here, I've just learned something new: Subaru uses BSPT threads on oil galley plugs and so forth. I don't have info on the 86 specifically, but it's a good bet that it uses BSPT, as well.

So I will concede that there's some logic in Sprintex' design choice. But given the failure rate of these hose connections and their general difficulty to source in the US, I think there's an opportunity here for some really excellent customer support (which was my main point).

BSPT is used in Japan too. Looks like it's been adopted pretty much everywhere but here.

Asking them to drill and tap the holes for NPT is a little much. They're already realizing that they need to check them and make sure they're tight when they get them from Sprintex. I'd say that's about as far as they should be expected to go in the name of "customer service". They saw a problem and are doing what they can to make it right.

BSPT is pretty common on cars in general. It should be easy enough to source fittings from mcmaster- carr or the like.

I was taking a look at the upgrade manual for the intercooler kit, and noticed that the water pump is installed on the same spot that you need to install the hard inlet pipe with the factory OEM Forester oil cooler, like I have installed. I'm purchasing an intercooler kit so I can confirm if it will be an issue installing it on top of that piping or if it needs to be modified, but figured i'd give a heads up in case any other Innovate owner is running the forester cooler like I am.

Here's the specs on the pump for anyone who is interested:

http://www.rpc.com.au/pdf/davies_cra...p_brochure.pdf

The plastic fittings can be found here:

http://www.egertonhydraulics.com/sho...ubgroups=3800C

Specifically, you'll need at least one of each of these:

1) N-WES8R 1/4
  • 8mm ID X 1/4" BSPT THREAD
  • NORMA ELBOW TAPER CONNECTOR

2) N-WES10R1/4
  • 10mm ID X 1/4" BSPT THREAD
  • NORMA ELBOW TAPER CONNECTOR
I just went an measured the OD of the old barbs and they are 8 and 10mm.

I'm currently working with a US company to see if they can order them for me. Here's a link to the site: http://mdmetric.com/

I haven't heard back from them yet to know if they can get them, but I plan to order a few extras from them or the British company once I hear back from them.

I posted a page back about having problems with my belt squeaking. All fixed after Sprintex came to my house and swapped the belt and topped up the supercharger oil.

Got to see some goodies on the prototype car which i have to keep secret but i will say that they have hit 311whp with the smaller blower.

It's good to live a suburb away from the company that makes and prototypes this blower.

At the time i didn't think to ask, The car isnt fitted with a flex fuel kit and e85 is very rare here so im hoping 93AKI/98RON. I'll be talking to them further in the new year about it.

He did say the increase over what i have was down to two things the secret thing and tuning that they sat in on to help the tuner here.

They said the secret they have on the prototype should be avaliable to customers "soon" as an add-on like the intercooler has been to the US folks.

I dunno if Innovate has something similar for USDM release but i would imagine so.
