my interior re-design

totaled the car a few weeks ago. interior is all gone.

all i have left are wheels and coilovers. i also have the BMW cupholders if anyone wants to do them.

How did you remove the chrome ring I just bought that switch and want to do the same thing but don't wanna pry on it

it just pops off. its held in in three places, just use a thin flathead.

don't have a close up. I had zero issues. be careful not to cut hole too big for them if you place them there. You don't want them to be loose.

bought a spare cluster cover for 40$ and some PVC pipes from Home depot that fit gauges.

Cut pipes into like 3 inch "pods" and cut two circles in the cluster where i wanted gauges to go. glued the PVC pipe and then filled with some body filler, sanded and painted. Its pretty simple once you get to it. hope this helps.

Hi question about the hvac surround pillars (silver trim pieces) How did you wrap it and what is the process of removing it?

Not OP but I just did mine in alcantara.

1. Remove the center console (you can look up how to do this on youtube).You might be able to get away with just loosening it instead of fully removing, but I was installing an armrest at the same time.
   
2. Remove the two plastic trim pieces below the knee pads on the left and right sides of the tunnel. They just pull off.
   
3. Reach up through the newly created hole and push out the USB/aux port from the back, disconnect the wire. Then pop out the center coin catch/push to start plate from behind. Again disconnect any wires.
   
4. Remove the single phillips head screw holding each kneepad on.
   
5. Pull the whole assy, (kneepad + silver trim) towards the rear of the car, it slots into the dash for retention.
   
6. Remove the single phillips head screw holding the silver trim piece to the kneepad. Hold the kneepad still and press on the silver trim to remove (for directionality, if the trim were still installed you'd be pushing "into" the dash.
   

Sorry for the awful wording. It's way easier to show than to tell. Once you've done it once the clips will be pretty intuitive.
