As a MKIV Supra owner, I've been following the FT-1 thread on Supraforums and even the SupraMKV forum. A good majority of Supra owners, esp the older forum members are not as excited with the so called Supra mule.
I've followed the FT86 concept back in 07 till the joint partnership announcement of Toyota and Subaru. After that, the GT86 no longer met my expectations. I'm seeing the similar trend with this Toyota and BMW joint partnership.

Honestly, the LC-500 is what the Supra MKV should resemble. Just like how the SC300/400 was released then the Supra in the 90's, it would only make sense for history to repeat itself with the LC and then Supra MKV with very distinctive similarities. Quote:
It did take a while before Toyota came up with the legendary design.

Even though it has similar styling as the FT-1, it still looks tame. With full BMW interior, I'm still not fully convinced it's the Supra MKV. The LC was dubbed "heavily camouflaged" too yet you can still see it's True Toyota muscle...wolf in sheep's clothing.

it isn't uncommon for prototypes to use parts from the part bin while testing. on the LC prototype there are still a lot of details being hidden. i'll reserve judgement on the new Supra until they show the real thing. the twins aren't that much smaller than the MK4. even supraforum's moderator KenHenderson agreed with this statement. I did see Ken's post on SF but with a close height, there is a significant length difference. I do agree that they share parts but this late in the game, a full BMW interior not only shows who has more control of the project but can also mean, this could not be the Supra. I doubt Toyota would allow that on such a legendary halo car and they would have been doing backflips on the car already. They don't fully disguise their prize like the Germans do. I too am waiting on the official announcement from Toyota.

Supra MK4 Wheelbase: 100.4 in Length: 177.8 in 86 Wheelbase: 101.2 in Length: 166.9 in i know a lot of people are saying its the "Z5 coupe". but it doesnt make sense for BMW to put a penis nose on their prototype. it also doesn't make sense for the coupe to have different lines than the roadster. the only official announcement we have is the BMW/Toyota press release where they state that they are working on a joint midsize sports car. |
