Thanks! ETA Melbourne of both ships match the port ETA date my dealer told me.

I asked my dealer about the ship and surprised that he told me there's no information on the name of the ship yet in their internal order tracking system.

Haha yeah I don't think their SCM system (they use SAP) shows ship names. They get so many cars (for all the other models) that they usually wouldn't give a crap. They can only see ETA dates as far as the supply chain process is concerned.

It'll be here soon mate! Just wondering, what is your dealer saying about the ETA at the dealer and the pickup date?

He told me ETA at the dealer ready for delivery 4/12. Web tracking shows 11/12.

The stock controller can tell you which ship it is, the dealer just needs to ask them...then you can track the ship online when it's in Aussie waters

Thanks Fred, I got a few contacts now around the Dealers and if I can help someone here get a car to the spec they want I will try anything, my reasoning being that Toyota are the ones that should be checking order lists in date of receipt of orders and going by that rather than ';one for you and one for him'

My original order will no doubt come up some time next year but I think the Dealer has someone in line that has ordered the same but if for any reason they end up with a cancellation then I will post again, can't see anything wrong with helping '86 friends'

While many names here are unknown to me, I feel after the last 18 weeks plus I have got to know most and the pains they are going thru like me wondering what the hell is going on

Fred, when I get mine, will post and PM you here and we have to catch up!!

All the best on the trip north next week and 'hey' to Jason for me - great guy!!

So my dealer just rang to tell me that I should get the car before christmas (web tracking hasn't updated at all yet).

Now this has me a little worried. This is within a week or two from 2013. I am buying a 2012 car in 2013 pretty much. I can wait another month for a January built car (receive in feb) but at the same time. I want this damn car!
How much of an effect do you guys think this will play on resale?

I don't think it'll have a huge effect on resale at the start point, but we'll see. Either way, jeez, why sweat it? So many people dropping out for 'real' reasons. 'Real' reasons suck, this is a sportscar, drive! Enjoy the drive! An early 2013 won't be structurally or really different from a 2012, and it's worth remembering these aren't camries. People will be talking about these things in Zenki and Kouki and that sort of crap, first series, pre-glue cars, blah blah blah. People don't say "1991 Silvia", they say "SR20 S13 Q's".

For an 86 not much if anything. On the other hand, for older cars say 2-3-4 years old, then quite a bit. My Dealer picked my trade-in up last Tuesday even though the 86 is not due until January, reason being wholesalers will treat the car as being a year older come 1 January and around $2,000 less, so suits me, also didn't have to register and a refund from Insurance

If people are prepared to pay thousands above the ACTUAL 'drive-away' price for an 86, then if you keep it for 2-3 years I can't see you losing much at all. Mine will be December build/January delivery and going by my Corolla TWO dates were shown, the Japan build date and the Australian compliance date, both different, and the Australian date I believe is what they go by .. someone correct me if I am wrong but if you advertised it for sale then you would show the OZ compliance date

the 86's get their compliance plates in Japan, so a Nov 2012 build will get a Nov 2012 compliance plate. Definately worth less than a Jan 2013 build.
