I think winter darkness and cold weather are what's deterring participation and attendance. But hey if anyone wants to second the motion, or quash this motion with a hilarious meme, please feel free to chime in right up in this beezy.

I see your point, but I disagree. I think keeping it in rotating locations gives folks (such as myself) the opportunity to come to these meets. I think keeping it in the Fremont/Newark/UC just brings too much overlap with the South bay group. I think the area has been limited lately, alienating a good number of folks. Case in point: Walnut Creek & Dublin meets get folks all the way from Visalia, Antioch, etc. to show.

I agree with Brian. Rotating venues in the East Bay allows for a diverse group of owners...new and old. Plus, it's a no brainer to attend if your area/city is selected as the next location to meet!

I've been pretty MIA these past few months due to work, and struggling to get my home/work life balanced out. I'll see if I can make it out in the upcoming weeks.

Yet... somehow... we can't figure out somewhere to meet among the various places in between Emeryville, Fremont, and Dublin...

Plato has been asking for recommendations for places to meet since Tuesday. We came up with Alameda (you) and Three Guys Pie (2 others). Where are the rest of you... Especially of those of you who complain that Fremont or Union City is too far. Maybe say something?? Make a RECOMMENDATION for a meet with some advance notice so those of us in almost South Bay can make arrangements to make it to you guys?? And not just... let's have the meet in this (city). Actually make a recommendation for a venue! "Let's try this new burger place!" "Let's go to this all-you-can-eat shrimp for $5.99." "You got to try this tri-tip place. This is THE place in town!"

No offense, but I hear you. I see your recommendations. And I would love to come hang in Alameda, but we can't even get people to agree on a single meet location. Since Thanksgiving, meets are hit and miss. Some do well... but most end up fizzing and getting cancelled.

We got to do something about making an active effort to determine the week's meet BEFORE the day of the meet.

In regards to the distance thing for you... I get it. I know. I've done it. When I was going to school at UC Davis, the Sacramento meets were usually in Roseville or Rancho Cordova. That's 45 minutes away... Sometimes they were a lot closer, and sometimes they weren't. The meets never came to Davis. But let's face the facts, most of the members were local to Sacramento, and guess what... that's where the meets ended up. What did I do about it... I asked for somewhere closer some weeks, and I carpooled with a friend on other weeks.

Nothing wrong to starting your own meet in your part of the East Bay to attract the locals.

I see your point and I feel your pain man, but I'm not sure about your argument. Yes, there has been less participation lately, sure, people are busy and have their own priorities (the older I get, the more I understand this), but I don't see how making it a Fremont only meet improve attendance. By your argument, we should be getting loads more participants every time you suggest a place at Fremont vs. other places (ie Dublin).

I agree, part of the lull is due to the lack of suggestions and new locations, but maybe we should take it upon ourselves to increase that range. I'm in Alameda, but made the suggestion for Walnut Creek & San Ramon in the past. Why not make a suggestion somewhere other than Fremont?

I cant speak for other valley folks (Tracy, Manteca, Stockton, Modesto) but the chances of me attending a meet near the Dublin area is higher than a meet in Fremont/Newark (especially during a weekday). The beauty of the rotation is the opportunity to attract more of the local folks in the vicinity.

I agree with you. So go ahead and make your own fremont meet and keep the east bay meet for the rest of the people. Take your own advice and hopefully you can keep the ball rolling for your meets. Thats my 2 cents.

I agree. I'm also from the valley and Dublin seems to be the middle point for everyone. This months meet seemed great. We had lots of people show up

I will concede that the east bay meet has died down a bit. First the holidays and then it has been pretty cold which limits numbers since people don't want to stand in the cold too long. The East Bay is more spread out unlike South Bay where there is a large concentration of owners in a smaller area. Some of us are just busy.

Let me ask this. How would limiting the area solve anything? You can make the meet in that area only but that doesn't suddenly get more owners in the area. Plus you cut out a lot of people who now have to drive all the time, especially us valley folks and those in the northern East Bay. Even within this thread it could just be planned in Fremont all the time and if nobody objected it wouldn't make a difference.

Finally, this is the East Bay meet thread. If you would like to start a different meet feel free to create a new thread or utilize the FB groups like others do to meet all days of the week. I appreciate the enthusiasm in wanting to kick things back into gear and get us all out together regularly.

With that said I vote next week be at Papaya Grill in San Ramon.

It's hard for me, because all the local meets are at least an hour away if not more due to traffic. I've thought about trying to start up meets closer to Napa/Santa Rosa/Petaluma, but it doesn't seem like there is a of activity up here yet.

San Ramon isn't too bad for me though, and I would really try to make it out there if you guys meet there.

Just start skimming through this thread, I always seen this thread pop up but never join any because Dublin is so far away. My gf lives in richmond, I live in alameda. Since i have to go from dublin/fremont back to richmond then back to alameda, i couldn't join the meets.

Never been to a meet before but i would really love to join you guys if you guys decide to meet in alameda again, since its not so far away maybe my gf will let me off the hook and meet in my home town.

By the way, i hope all 86s are welcomed to the meet. I don't want to be laughed at for not going boosted =/

if we do have a meet in alameda, we can eat at park st and have our cars parked at the parking lot by the theater since its free after 5pm. Ive always wanted a group photo.

The thing is, i still have a stock exhaust! I've been trying to find a quiet exhaust that everybody is acceptable with at 4AM! I'm trying to find exhausts thats only loud at around 3-4K rpm, had a loud ass custom made exhaust for my civic nobody said anything beside my parents but i bet the neighbors hated me. I was young, done with obnoxiously loud exhausts.
