Khyron686: imho there is one way to eat cake & have it too, if you like those 235/45r17 that much. Install slightly different final gear ratio kit. It might not be enough to compensate speedo changes, but imho it will fix slower acceleration.

"Meaty" is about tire width, not sidewall. Tires are sometimes referred to as Meats and when you say a car has a lot of meat under it, or that it is "laying down a lot of meat" it means it has wide tires. Sidewall doesn't come into it. A 265/35 is meaty. A 185/70 is not.

I was wondering why the pics were dead on the side of the wheel and tire and not showing the tire width from below... kids!

funny how you post appropriate tires to make your point, but then stretched tires with no sidewall to show how width is irrelevant.

any photos?

with that offset you really should roll your rear for some clearance, thats also a lot of camber in the rear with a not that large of a tire (assuming you went 245 for clearance?)

how low are you? reason i ask is ST are a bit on the softer side, so if you're slammed, it makes sense why you rub because your wheels don't fit.

post a photo and we should be able to help you out. i'm assuming your'e talking about tire rubbing, not ground clearance issues. do you have any markings in your tires? good way to see where you are rubbing is to chalk your sidewall. many do it at auto-x, including myself, to see if they are rolling over and should add or take away pressure.

If only there was a measurement on the tire, that expresses the ratio of width to sidewall....

I tease, I know what you're after, but if you need to read the tire measurement to know its meaty factor, that's not a good way to do it.

Meaty CRX - even though it's only a 195 wide tire.

My favorite meaty/not-balloon size on the twins is 235/45r17 - just looks so nice. But I didn't want to deal with the slightly slower accel.
I have 235/45 on my 17x9s... it does look very nice and "meaty" and as for the slower accel, meh its barely noticeable.
