Well I expect he's going to paint it and probably use something other than tape to attach it. So it'll end up looking fine. When I see stock 86s it makes me sad.

What about an 86s which look stock but under the hood is a whole different animal?

Still meh. Better but... improvements can be made. Personalization is key. An accord can stay stock but a man's car, not his beater drive it when he has to cat but HIS CAR, should be exactly what he wants it to. It's an extension of himself, shaped by his eye. If you think Toyota made the perfect looking car and you can't find a way too improve its looks, that's fine. If you want it to look stock so no one knows it's faster than average then you're just playing a game, and not making your car everything that it can be. I'm not saying it has to have crazy aero or a wide body. But if that's how you feel it should be to be "yours" then that's what you should do.

I just feel everyone is so quick to deprecate on things they don't like. This guy is excited about his new body work and is spending a great deal of money to make this happen, it's not like he put on sticker vents and said it was cooler than your car. How about we just accept the effort and individuality people put into their cars instead of constantly complaining about how they aren't exactly like our own? Who wants to go to a meet and see 100 cars that are all 100% identical? Shit, I can go to the dealership and do that. But I guess welcome to the internet, where everyone has an opinion and lacks the decency to keep their negative opinions to themselves

End rant.

The difference is, his is all show, and no go... nothing done under the hood. His body kit looks "fast" but reality its just stock. Maybe if he was FI the body kit would be legitimate.

At the end of the day, its RICE

Why does it matter? It's not your car. Maybe 1% of owners actually USE their mods. Someone can spend 4000$ on wheels and another 3000$ on coilovers, and no one bats an eye, they all ohh and ahh over how well these parts perform but unless they are at the track all the time, these parts will offer just as much benefit as this guys body kit. If owner X doesn't "need" the wider tires the body kit affords him then it's rice but if owner Y doesn't "need" Ohlins dampers then it's perfectly fine? Why? Cuz we can't see them? Then what's the point of even having them other than bragging rights? What's the difference between the joy a of a turbo pushing you back into your seat at a stoplight and the joy of looking out the window at your driveway and seeing your creation?

If all you're worried about is going faster, you bought the wrong car. If all you're worried about is handling, you still bought the wrong car(just less wrong).

I'm not saying everybody has to like the look. But we should ask respect the owners personalization decisions. It shouldn't matter how it makes us happy just that it does. Isn't happiness what the 86 is all about?

I'm not wanting to rekindle an argument here or desiring to perpetuate going off topic on this one....

but one could say that the car, in stock form, looks "fast". I get plenty of comments to that affect from random joes on the street... But most of us can agree that it is, in fact, not.

I agree that we should spend more time supporting each other in our endeavors and less time cutting each other down. I'm plenty guilty when it comes to this issue and thankful to @Ashikabi for trying to be positive.
