sorry, i'm a wheel noob... what specs do I need to ask for in ordering custom wheels for the FRS? I am trying to get several companies to make wheels for our spec for a good lightweight, forged, race wheel, that we could also rock on a DD... or is it too early to ask? I remember seeing that measurements were taken by several companies, but I don't see them really sharing that kinda info this early on. Might be wrong, but just don't know where to look.

Also, are there pros/cons to 16,17,18? Like tire size availability, price, weight? I know some cars are different so I'd like to know.

I recommend that you look at the top of this subforum where a thread called Wheel 101 can give as much basic info before buying. It might help get an idea of what you might want and if not ask any authorized dealers nearby for any questions. I recommend others who are new to read it.

It's pretty simple really...5X100 bolt pattern and no offsets below +30. Only thing I don't know is max tire/wheel width at the front. At the rear it's "10.

LE28N, in gold, on a Whiteout BRZ. Mmm... I'll be in my bunk.
Oh man, I remember I wanted these so bad for my WRB STi, but I was always so broke after I made my $550 car payment.

I paid them no mind when they were on sale, because they weren't the look I wanted for my car at the time (ended up going with SSR Comps). But realized I had been subconsciously looking for this exact wheel by narrowing down what I liked and hated about everything else. Gram Lights 57pro: "Like the gold & polish, but not enough spokes." Advan RZ: "Like the spokes, but too much gold. Looks weird." Then I see a pic of these, and figure out, of course, it was a limited edition. Stupid marketing ploys, manipulating supply and demand like that.

Wondering if I can't just get a set of CE28N's, and have the rims polished. I'm hung up on gold/ bronze wheels with a polished lip on a white car, and yet the trend now seems to be more towards gunmetal/ dark gray/ black. Anybody got any experience with polishing the rim of a painted/ powder-coated wheel?

Im thinking about doing something I've never done before - getting a set of Rotas

Theres just nothing available right now thats within my budget ($2k max) and fits the way I want it to. Im thinking Ill just get the Rotas (or another rep wheel) until something hits the market that I truly want.

I'm actually thinking the same thing, might just craigslist/forum hunt for TE37's second hand or SSR's because I can't find anything near my $2,200 w/ tires.

FFS, there's nothing wrong with Rota... The tuner mentality these days, I swear - putting wheels that are worth 25% of the entire vehicle makes absolutely no sense.

Some people don't want to buy a cheap copy.

And I'm sure an 18x9 Rota Grid won't weigh anywhere near as little as an 18x9 Volk TE37.

i was looking at rota 17in and they were lighter then the factory rims.... im on the fence about rotas too.... hard to find bronze rims out there. If they still made RPF1s in bronze the deal would be done but paying an extra 150 a rim just to get the color i want on top an already decent price tag is not my thing. Im ballin on a budget lol

Rota's get a bad rap... I personally like them....I can't afford OMG Wheels... they do the job..and if you do crack one...they will gladly send you a replacement...I had Rotas on my 2000 RS ..never had an issue..they offer a bunch of different styles..the right fitment..the price is decent...Yes..I know they are "knock off" wheels.. but again..I can't afford 700 a wheel, wheels... and they found the Subaru Market Lucrative..

I saw what looked to be Rita's on a black 370Z this week. They were TE37 knocks. I've heard too many things about Rotas going bad to pull the trigger. I'd much rather spend mOney and take the hit than buy crap and deal with problems later. Realistically I'm thinking Avant Garde, Gram Lights or Forgestar. Quality wheel for not much money.
