Good eye! It currently sits underneath all of that, so it is still connected but you just are unable to see it. I tested the car without having that piece plugged in and although the car drives fine in auto, I was unable to switch into manual mode and use the paddles.

Why would someone try to make their automatic look like a manual? Or am I missing something

I prefer the clean look of the MT over the AT, since the AT has that gear select sitting there.

Agree, it looks cleaner. The AT shift knob and PRND are an eyesore.

Also it is definitely NOT to trick people to think it's manual, btw. (Although it is amusing to see the reactions when people realize it's an auto(result is usually disappointment. LMAO))

Exactly, I love seeing people noticing I have paddle shifters and get confused. Speaking of paddle shifters, I changed mine to black ones along with my RPM gauge ring.

Where'd you find black paddles?

You can buy them off any OEM Subaru parts website. From the research I did before purchasing, Subaru has made black paddle shifters for the 2015 WRX and Crosstrek. I used the WRX's part number when purchasing and they are the same size as stock ones. They are essentially plug and play, but you need to use the stock wiring as when I tested using the new cables I was unable to upshift. So just disconnect the silver ones, plug the cables into the black ones and boom, black paddle shifters! If you need anymore help feel free to ask.
