Yeah, it was fun while it lasted.

I miss it sometimes, but more so the people. Every time I hear the sound of rotor blades I run outside looking for the source. Still get goosebumps from it. I know the grunts will always be particular to the Cobra and Huey bubbas, but for me nothing beats the rumble a flight of 53s make.

Respect to all you fine gents.

I haven't served myself but the rest of my family all did the dance. Grandad = Army WWII, Dad = drafted USMC Vietnam, Sister = Army Sgt. back from her 2nd deployment, Uncles were Sub bubbleheads during Korea... Mentioned I was going to join the Air Force and they descended on me like a pack of wolves to deliver a brutal ass kicking and tongue lashing. They told me to go get my damn degree.. so I did.

We barely ever got Rotor CAS so I'm more privy towards 53s and 46s than Cobra and Huey.

In Haditha we had almost all platforms in the area at any one time, just never specifically for us. Only thing I never saw was any Little Birds. But we had 46/47s, 53s, Cobras, Huey's, Apache, and occasionally a Kiowa.

US Air Force 2001-2010. Active for 6.5 the rest as guard. Got out to go to Iraq as a civilian and good old divorce makes ya do dumb shit.
I was HVAC/R in the military. Now I work a desk job from home and go to school on the militaries dime.
Working on getting back in the guard just cause. Great perks!
I was stationed in the Azores and Alaska.
Went to Iraq, Hawaii, Texas, Maryland, Qatar thanks to the AF. Some aren't exciting but I wouldn't of gone otherwise.
Two weeks in Hawaii for an "exercise" was amazing. We didn't do shit and got paid for it.

Also the gf is Navy currently (ewwww/navy blows). So I am hanging out in San Diego for the month with her.

No offense to the navy people who love it. Just in comparison to what I had in the AF and what she deals with daily...mind is blown
