People's Reaction to Your New FR-S

Dad :Really? huh. So is it fast?
Me: Dunno. The shift light is set to 4K until it hits a thousand miles.
Dad: Big V6, I guess?
Me: Actually it's a flat four.
Dad: Like a Porsche?
Me: More like a Subaru.
Dad: Like the lesbians drive?
Me: OK, like a Porsche...
Dad: Atta' Boy. Mind if I drive it?
Me: ......I mean, I guess......
Dad: Great!. Be right back.
Dad (looking down at seat): Wow, how do you , ah, this thing is awful low.....maybe later.
Me: Yeah, right, anytime. See you for dinner Sunday.
Dad: So, when are you going to bring back my chainsaw?
Me: Oh, wow, would you look at the time...

I was in my suv today waiting for light turn green. Suddenly a car turn from my right corner making a left turn pretty fast. First I thought it was a Lexus LAF,... Then I realize it was the frs or brz.

i had an S2000 speed up and start honking at me - as he pulled both hands off the wheel and give me 2 thumbs up -- like 10 times before he sped away ...

that same day, anotehr guy on a WRX Subie.. got real close and checked it out as his passengers were oogling out the windows.. they floored it and waved - they were enjoying but i wasant going to floor it to catch up -- i want to break it in right... and i was only at 120miles back then..

Got mine last friday and on my way home from the dealer, there are cars just tailgating me for they want to get a closer look at my car. BTW, I'm driving the Hot Lava. There was this guy driving a Denali SUV and was pointing at my car to his Girl. The good part is, the girl was looking at me and not in my car. I switched lane and keep following me.

I agree with that. If these two cars are at the stop sign I think people will look at our cars instead of the BMW. Ours are unique and BMW's you can see them everywhere. Hope Scion, Toyota, BRZ will maintain the per order basis to preserve this car prestige.

Got my FR-S on monday and already got some funny situation:

- First everywhere I stop, people come to see the car and ask me questions about it.

- I've engage into a street to park, their was a police car there but hey my car is bone stock and I'm doin' nothing wrong. He reverse very fast and kinda block me and tell me with his hand and to stop. I was like WTF? The guy step out of his police car with a biiiggg smile and he was like: OHHH FUCK the FR-S!! Man your car is crazy, can I take pictures? I was like HAHAHA, yeah you can. We talk about 15min about the cars. After that, we've started and I waited me... to hear the sound. So he really have slow down the traffic haha and he let me push the car. After that he tell me: Hey push it an other time I want to hear it again HAHAHA. Totally the most coolest cops I've met, it was like back in the 70's! He told me, If I see you on the street, i'll arrest you just to check your car haha. That's cool really.

- Second funny thing, in my city theirs no Scion dealership so I've got to roll 30min everytime to go at my dealer. I wanted to buy a touch up, so hey afterall it's a Subaru, I'll go to my Subaru dealer. When I've stepped into the driveway like 10 salesman was running at me. They were SURE that my car was theirs first BRZ! ( They don't have recieved one ) It was SO priceless to see their face. I was like: Hum I only want a touch up paint. Haha.

Well, that about it for now.

Yesterday I had someone in a 1st gen Cayenne S floor it so he could "beat" me to the next stoplight. Even with me keeping it under 4k RPMs due to break in I still wasn't particularly impressed, mostly because:

1) He bought a Cayenne S.
2) I assume he was tired of losing stoplight drags to minivans.
3) He was doing about 60 in a 30 pulling this stunt.
4) He actually bought a Cayenne S.

I was amused by the reaction I got two nights ago on my rebadged FR-S (Toyota badges, stripped the FR-S badge off)...

Was out late trying to find food, and this guy in an tuned EG6 Civic came up on me really fast, got alongside... then fell back suddenly, hung around behind me for a second, then got alongside again. When we pulled up to a stoplight, he was frantically motioning for me to roll my window down. "Man, that car is awesome! But what the hell is it?"

"It's actually a Scion FR-S."

His buddy hit him on the arm and said, "I TOLD you that was a Scion!" Driver laughed and said, "Alright, alright... your Toyota badges were throwing me!" Gave me another thumbs up, and drove off.

I was just amused that even amongst guys into cars, something as simple as a JDM rebadging could throw them on a car they're not used to seeing.

just because you HAVE (note, i said have, and not own,) a nice car (ft-86) or a nice expensive car, such as a BMW or Benz, doesnt mean you own the car, and that you are rich. ive seen people working at low minimum wage jobs, on welfare and still be able to LEASE or FINANCE an expensive car. these people are TOOLs. i cant tell you how many times ive seen people on the road driving expensive cars and they live in a crappy broken down house, behind on credit card bills, and not being able to afford food. if you want to be a TRUE owner of a nice car, then you have to be able to pay it off 100% on the same day. if i see someone a young person at a car meet, with a brand new expensive car, i will flat out ask them if they paid it off 100%. and i will know you are BS'ing me if you say yes... pretending to be rich doesnt make you "cool", it makes you look pathetic. just FYI.....
