We officially placed our deposit and signed the paperwork for a BRZ yesterday, so this gives a time to get ready for delivery!

Because it downshifts when you lug it? When is this likely to happen to you? Most likely you were driving around the city in a high gear (because you were watching the real time consumption on the display), you slow down but forget to shift, and as soon as you are giving it some gas, you are lugging it badly. With a manual box, as soon as you realize this, you will need to get off the gas and shift (again, talking about lugging it badly.) There is a good chance that the AT will detect this faster, do the shift faster, and into the correct gear for your speed. This is user error pure and simple. This is a good and smart thing to do.

And the upshift? Only when you are redlining it *AND* the AT is already boiling. Really, how likely is this? If you are a track-rat, you are not going next to the AT even when they are about to hammer the nails into you on the cross, so in a realistic situation, I highly doubt you will see this even on your occassional frisky track day.

Bottom line:
This looks like a great choice for DD with an AT that doesn't have a mind of it's own. If you run into the lugging downshifts, then just keep the tranny in "D" and enjoy the vehicle dynamics, and call it a day. If you run into the second situation above, then you are spending a lot of time on the track, so congrats, you have now graduated to a more capable car, in which case the FRS/BRZ fulfilled it's mission.

He is a track guy and the oil temps will likely be high enough for it to auto up-shift, which defeats the point of a "performance automatic".

I'm sure he doesn't give a crap about the auto downshift.

All the more reason to get a manual. See Subaru is making it easy for those who can't decide AT vs. MT.

■ Changing the REV indicator settings
The engine speed at which the REV indicator turns on at and
whether a buzzer sounds or not when the light turns on can be set.
Engine speed setting range: From 2000 to 7400 rpm (r/min)
Press the “DISP” switch repeatedly until the setting screen is
displayed. (→P. 195)
Press and hold the “DISP”

“REV.” and the thousandth place
flash. After flashing, the number
changes each time the button is
pressed and held.

■Headlight control sensor
Headlight control sensor is located on the
passenger's side.
The sensor may not function properly if
an object is placed on the sensor, or anything that blocks the sensor is affixed to
the windshield.
Doing so interferes with the sensor
detecting the level of ambient light and
may cause the automatic headlight system to malfunction.

I agree the ACC is very nice looking. However the only real thing I wanted were the seats. I don't want the spoiler and I don't want the fog lights. Rumors of $2-3k price increase was a lot for me to justify getting the limited mostly for the seats and proximity key.

Yeah the leather looks amazing. But cloth these days looks pretty sharp. My buddy has a GTI and the cloth is pretty nice and cool looking still.
