I know they made firewall rules. I think the engine swap rule might now be that you are able to swap engines if it's offered by the same manufacture as your vehicles make.

Subarus engines typically all have forged cranks and cast pistons. The STI comes with forged rods, WRX has die cast, and I think some of the N/A engines have sintered rods these days. So a forged crank is almost guaranteed, the pistons will be cast (but you'll want low comp replacements anyway), and the connecting rods will most likely be cast as well. Factory forged rods are possible, but not at all likely IMO.
engine swaps are still allowed in FD

from FD rule book

You can't use the front crossmember from another chassis... This limited some engine swaps in the past.

IE an S13 can't use the crossmember from a Skyline if they're swapping an RB in.. but nowadays they have swaybars and oil pans that'll clear the stock crosmember so it's becoming more of a non-issue.

i thought they changed the rule that the engine has to be current production and avalible to the public.

i.e. why they killed the rockstar V8 Tc since it used a nascar motor.

Turbo for sure. This car wont make it far in FD though. Especially with a 2l/2.5l turbo as opposed to everybody elses v8s. Plus, take in to consideration the weight of the car and the car is limited to a smaller tire width... Probably gonna be 265 width. Unfortunately v8s are the only way to be competative in FD.....we ruin everything here!

if the crank is forged, rods, and pistons are all forged then I'm a happy camper, basiclly the car can take what I want to throw at it.

a properly set up 6cyl turbo will compete with a V8 in drift fyi.

Im just hoping the STI engine swap is easy in this car.

I believe a high horsepower frs will be competitive v8 or not, the smaller budget teams go with the v8 because of low cost, big horsepower, and easy to fix as opposed to a rotary, etc

Scion will be dumping millions into the race team so i think they will be just fine.....600hp will be deadly in this well balanced machine....
