I hope...
This is what I was considering. On my Mazda3, the throttle is electronic. As a result you can add cruise control by simply plugging it in.. (I believe, haven't read the article in about 2 years)

And Hi guys. I'm one of the newbies. thank jalopnik! I've been craving a small, light weight, rwd car I can afford and drive. Hopefully it's more accommodating than the Miata...

Welcome rommy! The original Evo article (unconfirmed by anyone else) said "one source close to Toyota told us that a special low-frills competition version will sell for less than $22,000 and be specially set up for racing with stiffer suspension and beefier brakes."

so if that is correct... it would be more than just "parts removed"...

To me all Honda's are powered by hamsters.

If the top model of FT-86 comes with Brembo brake, LSD, TCS and VSC buttons, lower profile, factory turbocharger, great handling suspension system( adjustable), 18 or 19" light weight alloy, unique body kit( G sport, anyone?), and wing ( lip spoiler or small wing. not G sport wing) and costs less than 30K, I won't hesitate getting the car. They said that it's the world's best drift car, so make it like one.

Yeah... IF they made one like that, expect to be $30K PLUS.

I dun think so. How can the car be world's best drift machine without stiff suspension, LSD, TCS and VSC button? You can't go drift with safety features on or soft suspension. Even though it sounds expensive, I believe they can make it less than 30K. Even if they make one under 30K they still profit from each one of them. Toyota has in-house tuner. It's not like they will buy the new parts and throw away the old parts. They just make the part for specific model, so it's not like you throw some mods on your car, which costs a lot more.

Pretty sure the track/competition model is going to be the "drifters dream" not the top model. Top model will be for people who like the way the car looks, the base model is going to be for people who just want to drive the rubber off the car. It's not going to have buttons for VSC or TC, it won't have either.

Oh I'm pretty sure it can be. Here's the vid of Tsuchiya Keiichi drifting the STOCK AE86 at the track with soft suspension.

TCS and VSC buttons might help. You know that Toyota don't put Brembo for their aftermarket parts (I stand to be corrected).

K, from here, I need Toyota expert (cuz I'm not expert on TRD and prices)
Prices for Real genuine: TRD wide body kits, TRD spoiler, TRD 4/2 pot calipers, TRD suspension: struts or coilovers, TRD Turbo (I'm pretty sure, it's not gonna bolt on, so internal parts will be replaced with TRD parts), TRD 18" or 19" alloy wheels w tires and add TRD CF hood for the hell of it... now adding those and FT86c... IDK, I don't feel that, it's gonna be below $30k.

Toyota might use Advios Brake instead of a pricey Brembo. It depends on what people prefers, some want a soft suspension, some want a stiff one. Factory turbo might not cost as much as aftermarket ones. I didn't say a car which cost less than 30K has CF, CF is hella expensive ,man. If the car starts at 22K, the top trim won't be more than 30K. tC base price is probably 18K, so is tC cheap? no. If they can make a stripped down model, which cost less than the base, they also can make a top trim model with >30K. Maybe the price will be 29999, or 30001. Haha

Oh one more thing, TRD might not get involved in the project( TRD parts are expensive), because what i've seen so far is new-born G sport. Anyway thanks for the link man.

Hm... They might use STI's internal for Turbo upgrade, that's my bet (if TRD make turbo kit).

As for TRD involvement on this project, I think 99.9% they will involve in this car. Every Toyota sports car fans & just sports car fan in general is waiting to see how this car gonna be. TRD be dumb not to make aftermarket parts for his car.
