Agreed. The S2000 is much more like a Miata than an Elise. There's absolutely no reason what-so-ever to say otherwise.

Since I made the initial statement, I was referring to the rawness and more compromises that owning a car like the S2000 is as compared to a Miata.

You can get a slower, optioned out automatic Grand Touring Miata, but there aren't any options on an S2000, well except for a hardtop and maybe a spoiler.

If I were to say it over, I'd say that owning an S2000 is one step closer to
an Elise than a Miata. Just look at the hp/lbs of each car, combined with each car's philosophy.

want to add some more comments about an s2000, a car of its kind:

the true value of a s2000 lies into the unique handling of it

the engine that's mounted in the front-mid position realizes the perfect 50/50 weight distribution

just a few minutes behind the wheel, you'll forget that you are driving a roaster

plus the car sits on a compact double wheel-wishbone suspension system

it didn't have many modern gadgets used in the modern technology today which makes it very light weight

"it's a classic piece of driving machinery"

Sounds like you pulled these statements from some car magazine, which, taken out of context, is pretty meaningless. Because for example, all it does is raise more debatable questions. (Please, I hope no ones tries answer these questions. I only list them for purpose of illustrating how meaningless the previous post is.)
What is unique about its handling?

Why is 50/50 the perfect weight distribution? What if the car's engine was mid-mounted?

You'll quickly realize you're in a roadster when the top is down. Then what?

If a car doesn't have a compact double wheel-wishbone suspension, then what? (Note: the Porsche 911, most BMWs, and many other cars all use a MacPherson strut type of suspension.)

Modern gadgets -- of course it doesn't have any. The S2000 came out over 10 years ago.

Colatkitty's S2k is/was the fastest privateer n/a s2k track car on the west coast...

Either way, I'll be picking up a BRZ as well.

It seems as though everyone is trading their s2k challenge car for an FRS/BRZ... I plan on keeping the s2k for the track but picking up a brz limited as my DD.

Pretty funny how you love everything about the BRZ before driving it and touching it. Let me guess, you've never been in an S2000 before either, yet you just know you won't like it.

I think everyone moving from the S2000 to the FT86/BRZ is NOT necessarily expecting a better car, just something newer to play with that will remind them of the S2000. I'm confident that this budget sports coupe will not rival the S2000 in terms of performance numbers (obviously, we're talking flagship vs entry sports car). However, it should be a fun car for ex-S2000 owners to try out.
