I can't do clutch and turbo build my own. I bet most people can't. Labor for clutch quote by shep is $ 1000.

True but I'm sure he'd wait for a kit instead of really putting together anything custom A kit will of course include some form of an exhaust manifold (it's design and specs would depend on the kit.. hell you know this already man )

Although he did randomly pick out a turbo, and then changed the turbo, but no specs on said turbo.

No offense to him but I'm guessing he's more of a kit person or pays a shop to build and design it. Not the cheapest (and depending on the kit/shop, maybe not the best) way to do things. Pointing it out because he seems worried about price..

That dyno curve looks amazingly similar to the Honda F20C, albeit with lower rev limit and peak hp. Are we absolutely sure this engine is not running some form of variable cam lift?. I don´t mind, but I´m sure the press will bash it for "no torque" in every review, just like what happened with the S2000.

Coming from the EVO I could see that you think the clutch might be difficult. On a RWD car it's cake. Not as easy IMO as a FWD Honda, but extremely simple with only normal tools most people who work on their cars already have in their garage.

Turbo builds I agree if you don't know what you are doing, stay away. I'm just playing devils advocate since price is your concern.

Either way (Kit or Custom) it's going to be a wait for any of us before FI is done. I'm going to save enough money to rebuild the motor if I blow it while doing the turbo stuff... that is after the stupid Toyota ECU is unlocked or a work around is done... maybe Megasquirt or some standalone system will produce an ECU to be able to take care of the Toyota ECU... In reality there is someone in the Toyota that knows how to crack the computer language, we just need to kidnap him and force him to let us in!

Turbo builds are easy with the right parts... the hardest thing is making sure you have every piece you need all at once cuz once you start, your car is down until its 100% done... it takes a while too, I don't know how people think they can do a turbo upgrade in an hour and a half, lol yea right!

I think it'll turn out a lot like the 2006+ Civic Si, we didn't have much in the FI world because the only thing we could do was use piggybacks, until 2008 when Hondata released Flashpro, then the turbo kits/builds poured on

Yes sir!

You are right, I don't have the skill to do everything myself. I can simply change an intake, change exhaust, chang coilovers, change wheels, swap seats.

But I can't do engine work, clutch work myself. I don't have that much skill and knowledge.

This will not stop me loving to build cars and DRIVING THEM!

Thanks for give me advices, I'm willing to learn from you guys! Always!

bah devil's in the details. apparently the sky activ-g coming in the cx-5 will have 13:1, but they couldn't fit the cx-5's trick 4-2-1 header in the mazda3 so the 3 is gonna get 12:1 in the US. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...t/viewall.html

Agreed. But he was naming turbos in his post but probably doesn't even understand A/R, trim, etc.

You can easily throw a turbo and parts on anything, but if you don't know how to do so you may have very unpleasant (or expensive :P ) results. That's all my point was.

True... but when will that be? I'm guessing not long cuz with all these "leaks" Toyota has to know tuners and racers are going to use this car... and most of the racers will want to go FI so I see them "leaking" the ecu encoding fairly quick. Maybe they will even lower the compression a little bit.
