Chat-GPT Pretended to Be Blind and Tricked a Human Into Solving a CAPTCHA

"tricked" is quite strong there.

humans were controlling chatgpt, telling it to do so...

this is the equivalent of telling a 3rd grader "how terrible it would be if a tack ended up on your teachers chair before she got back to the classroom"

It is a little more like saying “let’s get the teacher to stand up after sitting down,” and the 3rd grader thinks to put a tack on the chair. The point is that ChatGPT could be given a directive, and then it could complete a task, which would include deceiving someone.

I gotta say, the idea of AI, humanoid robots, or machines taking over our jobs can be a bit unnerving.
I'm a 24-year-old graphic designer, and the thought of my profession being automated is always at the back of my mind. But you know what? I believe there are certain aspects of design that rely on human creativity and intuition, making it difficult for AI to replicate the same level of artistry.
But I'm not saying that even so many designers don't risk losing their jobs.
The surest way to stay in the field is to become your own boss, and be the one who decides to use AI for projects or not. I'm really sure that this is what will do many of those whose jobs compete with what AI can do.
I'm really sure that this is what will do many of those whose jobs compete with what AI can do. All the more that opening a business is not difficult, regardless of the field. For an overview of the necessary steps, you can find more info here.

As far as AI and robots taking over my job, probably eventually as the technology gets better. My job is to hire and direct staff, manage budgets, select and manage IT projects. There's still a little bit of "art" to it.

I've already used AI to write code. It's pretty good at it for simple tasks. For example, we wanted an in-house password generator where the password was 20 random characters long, had certain minimum special characters, numbers, etc. OpenGPT wrote it for me in literally seconds. It wrote it in JavaScript, PERL, APL, C++, Pascal and just for fun COBOL.

All of them ran. Well except for COBOL, I didn't have a system to run it on but it checked out correctly when walked through. Now, if you are a programmer, you know that wasn't a complicated programming task, any first year computer science person could do it. But to do it efficiently in multiple syntax, not so much. Oh, and just to top it off I had it write a Shakespearian sonnet about the Cobol version:

Quote:
In code's realm where logic doth reside,
A wondrous generator doth emerge,
To fashion strings where randomness shall hide,
In COBOL's realm, its purpose doth converge.

With lowercase, uppercase, numbers too,
And symbols chosen from a set diverse,
It doth select a random character true,
To form a string, its beauty to immerse.

The first four characters, each hath its place,
From each set, a chosen one doth appear,
Then random characters, with charming grace,
Are added to complete the string so clear.

In COBOL's land, this generator lies,
Creating strings with randomness, a prize.

Seems like Tesla is making decent strides in catching up to robots players like Boston Scientific.

I get the knee jerk reaction, but this type of technology is game changing for people with traumatic injuries, neurologic disorders, birth defects and so on. As former ED Tech and now as an orthopedic nurse, I can say that this is very much needed. Just took care of a new paraplegic last week from a motorcycle crash. He may walk someday with such technology.

Also, we already have neural implants and stimulators and other medical devices in brains and for the rest of the body from cochlear implants, neural stimulators for Parkinson's, pacemakers, pain pumps, diabetic pumps, LVAD, etc., so medically speaking, this is just the next step.
