Get it in fast as you can and avoid using the window as much as possible there are some nasty pictures of what can happen on a couple of other threads. Other people had the problem with no damage done. People tried all sorts of home remedies but none seemed to work. The only thing of value I could find was keep it as clean as possible since it seems to be dirt and sand that causes the worst damage. There is a service bulletin out for this. I also have avoided all other issues and just developed this one last week but can't get it fixed till next week.

I've had my car for like 6 months now and have covered 12k miles and it just started a week ago. It is kinda dusty around where I live so its probably contributed to it

Mine only does it when it is wet. Which in September in Canada is most of the time!

I went to get it fixed but came back right when I got in my car and rolled my windows down. they took it back for 4 minutes and came back with the windows cleaned and no screech. They said to use alcohol based cleaner. If that is what i have to fix then i can never get my windows tinted as alcohol is bad for the tint.

Yeah it will come back. Alcohol is not bad for tints. Windex is bad for tints. A mixture of rubbing alcohol and distilled water works great.

Mine goes in tomorrow for evaluating the trans (again) and the same squeaking issue described here. There is a TSB for this problem and a kit of parts will be installed to replace some rollers or something inside the door. We'll see how it goes.

The bulletin has the quantities reversed. I am going to have to leave it another day because they have the doors apart. It gives me a chance to blow the dust off of my trusty 1996 RAV4.
Does Scion service bulletin S-SB-0009 fix the issue?

My driver side window squeak when it's wet.

Good thing I'm in LA, so it only squeaks whenever I do a car wash.

What to do!?

The video posted above depicts exactly what was happening with my windows (both) when wet. My car is 11 months old, has about 5400 miles and lives in the garage when not driven.

Honestly, the squeaking sound was a bit embarrassing.

I figured the squeaking had to be caused by friction between the glass and the moulding since I was able to eliminate the squeaking by pulling the glass inward as I raised the glass. So, how do you reduce friction???

This is what I did...

1.) I cleaned the outside moulding strip with an old T-shirt and alcohol. I lowered the glass and then cleaned the moulding inside the door as far as my finger would reach along the entire length of the moulding.

2.) I used a chunk of carnauba past wax (Mothers) that I had laying around to completely coat the outer glass surface.

3.) I lowered and raised the windows a couple times to get wax on the moulding where it came into contact with the glass.

4.) Used a microfiber cloth to wipe off the wax the glass.

That's it!

It has been at least 3 months, many washes and some rain and still no squeak at all!!!

This is such a stupid problem... My Frs has also been doing the squeak! Yup usually when i wash the car or when its raining. Today i washed my car, while the window was saturated i rolled it down all the way for the ride home (to see if it would happen). Got home and what do you know whilst rolling the window up i hear the awful squeak, get out the car close the door then finishes me off with one last squeal when it seals...lol. I dont want my window to be scratched up like im hearing happens to some people, and the car has 5k miles on it so wth is up with this issue??

So what is the answer here? Bring to dealer every 4 months?
Is cleaning and waxing Windows the answer? Interested in how long that fix lasts
