Barely saved my BRZ and my own @ss from rear-ending a dumb-**** pulling out of a subdivision onto a two-lane road I take to go to work. I had to swerve to the right and pass...(luckily there was a shoulder on this section of the road).

![]() ![]() Had this custom made and put it on my drivers side door. A nod to what got me interested in cars way back when. ![]() What do you guys think!? I got a black one and a white one, the black is to put on the paint just below the window. Didnt know which location i would like better so i got both. |

An
anal-retentive install of the Perrin License Plate Relocate Kit.[The following is NOT an instruction or how to guide and is solely based on my overly zealous work habits. ]** Went to dollar store and purchased: one (1) sheet of “White Foam Board” [Note: Hobby stores carry similar foam board and Cardboard works too.) ** Went to hardware store and purchased: two (2) 1 x 3/4 x 1/8 # 15 O-Ring ~ ACE (Hardware) STK NO = 35732B two (2) 1 1/18 x 13/18 x 1.9 # 16 O-Ring ~ ACE (Hardware) STK NO = 35733B one (1) 3/4 x 2 1/4 x 1/8 Rubber Washer ~ ACE (Hardware) STK NO = 61273B ** Went to Subaru parts department and purchased: one (1) COVER HOOK F (front tow hook cover) ~ (2015) part number = 57731CA210 __________________________________________________ _________ Scanned “Tow Hook Cover” onto paper. [Note: Hand tracing works too.] Trimmed computer paper scan with scissor and taped it to “Foam Board”. [Note: Did not remove foam board paper backing because it provides strength.] Cut template using metal ruler and utility knife. [Note: Wore knife resistant glove on hand holding foam board.] Removed original (front) Tow Hook Cover and put it in baggie labeled “BRZ original parts”. Inserted Perrin Tow Hook Stem (hand tight) and measured exact location of stem end. [Note: Using graph paper to draw location based on measurements makes this chore easier and more exact.] Traced ‘Stem hexagon shape’ on Foam Board (using above measurements) and cut it out with utility knife. Checked for fit on Stem. Taped Foam Board template to front (top) of new Tow Hook Cover … aligning top, bottom, and right (Tab) side only. Used “Sharpie” pen to draw hole on outside of front hook cover through template. Removed template. Used Dremel tool to cut and shape ‘Stem Hole’ through newly purchased Cover. To keep dirt and water out of Tow Hook compartment, trimmed Rubber Washer to fit inside Cover using utility knife. Added #16 and then #15 O-Rings on top of rubber washer (inside cover). Tied Washer and O-rings to top and bottom (2 loops) of Tow Hook Cover using strong nylon string. Replaced Tow Hook Cover (containing Stem hole) on bumper with loop knots outside (front). Taped end of Stem and top of Black Hex Bolt with electrical tape to prevent any mishaps during torquing. Inserted Stem through Tow Hook Cover into threaded hole and followed Perrin instructions. [Note: Held nylon string loops tight and kept tension on them as Stem was torqued; keeping rubber flush with backside of Hook cover.] Cut (yellow) string loops next to knots. Removed string loop remains (one at a time) using two (2) sets of pliers (one for each string end). [Kept string taut while slowly pulling one side out; leaving washer and O-rings tight against inside cover. Removed electrical tape from end of stem. Put #16 and #15 O-rings on the short end of stem. inserted Bolt with 7/16” Flat Washer through Plate Holder and 2nd Perrin 7/16” Flat Washer into Stem. Followed remaining instructions on Perrin’s install sheet. Removed electrical tape from bolt and installed frame. Attached photographs intended to fill ‘missing gaps’ or text. Parts cost around ten (10) dollars, sans locater kit. (imo) This was an easy install and I had all tools available; Thanks to Perrin and Alta Performance and FT86 Club forum members for great support. |

That's what I use, the Butter Wax. Great great stuff. Easy on, very durable. I use it once a month to protect the paint, right on top of the Klasse.

Yeah, it's impressively easy to apply. Their paste wax is already pretty easy to apply, but the Butter Wax might be the easiest I've ever used and really gives it that carnauba pop.

Can anyone recommend an easy performance mod for a non-mechanically-minded owner? Do chips really do much? If so what would you recommend?
