I have been doing my homework on way on there have been 6 massive engine failures all under 10k miles. All the stories sound like the car is throwing a rod and they all seem to have one mod in common the Perrin crank pulley. My friend who has a FR-S got the Perrin motor mounts and one snapped on him while he was on the 93 to Vegas cost $300 to have it towed back. I have never used anything from Perrin but after all of this I'm going to stay away from them.

That isn't a great example of a "failure" on Perrin's part. Admittedly, they didn't send gaskets in the first box, but they overnighted new ones when they were notified. And the fitment issue, per the OP, could have just been on his particular car. Seems like Perrin did everything in their power to rectify the issue, other than flying out and removing the exhaust and fixing the fitment issue personally. I don't think that minor fitment issue is really even an issue, its so easily corrected there's no point even getting worked up over it, IMHO.

And the perrin pulley issue, I have to wonder how many other things these people did than just install a pulley, or how hard they were on the engine/drivetrain.

I'm not trying to make excuses for Perrin, but I have a hard time believing that: A) The Perrin pulley causes a catastrophic failure all by itself, and B) Perrin puts out products without first testing them as well as they can (lacking a fleet of test vehicles, this makes it impossible to test on a factory level). That being said, it IS troubling to hear that these have been linked.

Yeah I looked into it because you said you had it and I kinda wanted one but I think it is probably coincidence because a lot of people have this crank pulley. I know the clearance issue is minor but I saw it and thought it was worthy of posting encase someone in our group bought it and got mad about it I would feel bad that I knew about it and didn't say anything. And like I said I don't know about Perrin I have never used them so I have no experience with the quality of stuff they put out just pointing out issues other people are having as a heads up to our group to ask the guy behind the counter about it before they order.

I don't have a pulley, my FRS is stock other than the strut tower bar. I have more bits on order, but nothing else is installed.

Perrin. No problems that I know if. It's not a harmonic balancer like stock. Other than that you really can't mess up a part like that unless the center hole is not in dead center.

I know the concept is to increase throttle response but I'm worried about the long term effects I know on a v6 or a v8 no harmonic dampener can lead to serious problems fast but I don't know about a flat 4 they seemed more balanced.
