You can't possibly know that.

That's unnecessary.

This guy isn't the only one who is unhappy about the situation. Furthermore, if the mfr. is replacing the part, that in itself is an admission that they could have done a better job.

There's plenty of room on the internet for people to be unhappy about this car and for people to be happy about this car. Let's not say things on a forum (e.g., "Get over yourself.") that we would not be inclined to say in person. Dude, it's sooo 2009.

After about 500 miles, my pump is not chirping. I have one of the pumps from this long back order since October. As I stated before, Scion HQ told me that the materials the pump was made from were not compliant to the specifications necessary. The materials expand when exposed to heat (when the engine has warmed up to NOT). This expansion causes the chirping. Again, this is what I was told. The reason for the back order was because the supplier had to begin using new materials for the pumps. So, I assume all of the pumps made prior to this were scrapped causing a huge demand for replacements and no available inventory.

I have one of the so called later models according to my VIN#, and the thing is chirping. I'm going to ask them about that when it comes time for my first oil change.

I hear the chirping when I put my foot to the floor. Its kind of faint.... it doesn't really bother me enough at this point to make me want to get a new fuel pump, but if it gets worse I can definitely see myself taking a trip to the dealership.

Considering that the "chirp" is reported at idle, I think you are imagining it, or hearing something else if you only hear it at WOT.

Im definetly not imagining it, but considering that information it must be something else. It sounds like a ringing sound.

If it isnt the regular chirping i wonder if i should get this checked out

Edit: yeah you know what, i just looked at some videos of the chirp. I am not experiencing that. What i hear is a slight ringing sound, on acceleration generally above 4000rpm. I said with my foot to the floor but it does happen during fast accelerations that are not quite WOT. It doesnt happen during every acceleration, though.

Did the car make the noise the day I bought it?
No.

Does any other car in the world make the same noise when there is nothing wrong with it?
No.

Has the manufacturer said that the sound is indicative of an issue?
Yes - they released a TSB that states the part is faulty and needs to be replaced.

By your logic, the popping in the rear of my car - from the deck noise that we have documented on this same board - is not something to get fixed either, cause it isn't going to affect the performance. A noise that can be heard over a dozen other cars in the service bay yesterday - all running - and through a concrete wall is just fine to you, right? Why exactly are you in this thread then? Why not STFU and go troll somewhere else instead of attacking me for standing by my guns when the company is doing less than I believe was promised when I bought the car?

I have that ringing sound as well and I'm thinking it is probably exhaust resonance. Doesn't bother me much though.

Yeah the sound itself doesnt bother me, just the uncertainty of whether there is something mechanically wrong or damaging. I can live with the sound.

^This.

I have the fuel pump chirp. It is quite annoying and embarrassing to have a brand new car making a noise that it SHOULDN'T be making. So I called around today to get the ball rolling on my first oil change and to get the pump looked at during it.

I was told by Bill Page Toyota that there were none available and Toyota would send me a letter telling me when they are available. I chuckled and ended the call.

Warrenton Toyota scheduled me an appointment and confirmed that there are 6 available at the warehouse, but they couldn't order one until they verify the noise. So I should have my car looked at by the end of the month, will update then...

Took mine in for the chirp on November 10 and got it installed last Monday. 2 month wait.
