Yikes! Never jack up nor use the oil pan to support the engine, the whole front end of the car nor any other heavy weights (even just laying the engine on the floor). Some designs have the oil pickup "straw" super close to the oil pan's floor on the inside; and when dented, could block oil flow, starve the engine and straight up blow the mutha.

It's happened to several people in the past (including myself, with a rod straight through the block). A very common problem with imported engine swaps (since those engines are slid around and banged around a lot on the floor during shipments, resulting in messed up oilpans).

Wow okay, thanks for the heads up! This is the case even when using a rubber block? Where should it be supported? Not many options down there.

If you properly loosened the engine mounts and use something rubber or wood on the oil pan it is fine.

Do not use the jack straight on the pan.

Guys, another heads up, make sure you torque back the engine mount bolts to spec, do not listen to youtube ''experts''. I stripped the thread on one of my engine mount studs by trying to torque it as indicated in a (professional looking) youtube video when installing my OP. I believe OEM spec is 28 lbs, but you should double check...

The video said somehing like 68 lbs.. and I gave it a little more just to be sure.. errgh.. lessons learned I guess, but now likely need to get a new mount on the driver side..

Is it necessary to jack the engine up to install this header? My friend installed his Revworks with no need to jack up the engine.

No. The only time you need to jack up the motor is for an overpipe install.

I received my header today and then dropped it off at Olympic Coatings for ceramic coating. I am going with their black thermal-x that is good to 2000*F. It'll be a long 2 weeks until I get the headers back. Can't wait to install. Thanks FT86SF!

If anyone is receiving their header in San Diego county, let me know if you'd like to meet to do the headers together. I have all tools, etc and a decent sized garage. I am looking at installing mine around 1st weekend in April given the headers will be back from coating.

I am assuming as long as only the exterior of the header is coated and the Catalytic converter is not coated... it shouldn't be an issue.
