Do not return the jumper cable just yet. Drive around with the Yaris for a bit and come home with another car ready to jump start. Turn off the engine and then turn it back on. This is to check if your charging system is fully functional or the battery can receive charging. If the engine starts, you are good to go. If not, well, you may still need to replace the battery or check the charging system.

This is me coming from my experience.

hmmm guys, if you had 10K to spend on a used ECON car what would you get? it's something for my mother so automatic something like a hatch that can carry her gardening stuff. Id suggested an Impreza, but my dad doesn't want to spend too much because he wants his own (BRZfunds) LoL Thank you so much. It doesn't need to be sporty or performance oriented, we will have a BRZ for that.

If you're willing to put down 10k on new or slightly used car then I'd eye a Honda Fit, Subaru Impreza, Honda Civic, or Nissan Versa.

Do you mean an outback? How about a volvo? Actually a diesel Volkswagen TDI could be good too. Can't get better gas mileage than a diesel.

It's not super complicated, and with the garage sized kits you can pay for it in less than a year of daily driving. The most important ingredient is quality oil. If you use used oil you have to filter it a shit ton because every little impurity hurts the combustability.

(I used to be really into diesel trucks.)

That's biomass, completely different. A lot less efficient too.
