Curious if it's possible to pass North Texas emissions with the header cat removed? Not clear if this is enough to cause a permanent CEL? Or just drive 2 counties away for inspection?

As long as there isn't a CEL and the appropriate amount of ready codes are set, you'll be fine. That said, I don't think you'll avoid a CEL. You might try a spacer and see if that works.

I have yet to need to skirt Texas inspections (will possibly have to this February), but won't they not allow you to get inspected out of the county the car is registered in? I've heard that from numerous people since I've been here. And by numerous I mean every single person I know out here with a modified turbo car...which is a lot, considering my place of employment.

Negative. Last year I had my Lexus inspected in Tarrant county and it's registered to Dallas county. Unless the policy has changed in the past year with the new one sticker law, then it's not true at all.

Hmm, maybe because both of those counties are emissions counties it doesn't matter?

I'm actually now looking at UEL catted headers to avoid the CEL issue with new headers. Anyone here use Speed factories version ? Thanks

If you have a tune (ECUTEK, OFT, etc) you won't throw codes with the Catless header...will it pass the computer test? Yes, will it pass visual? If they look for it no, if you got a buddy who is an inspector, then it should pass no problem...

If you have higher end power goals in the future you're better off getting a catless header and either running an o2 sim or a basemap tune.

Had mine inspected last month, only have one cat. I went to a Goodyear for mine and as long as there isn't a CEL and you don't have more than one not ready you will be fine. For visual as long as the second cat is there they don't care about the first, because they can't see the first one with the metal shield.

So just wondering, are there any meets going on in the Dallas area on thursday night? I've been wanting to get together but with the weather and work it's been kinda out of the question. If anyone knows of anything or wants to try and put something together let me know!

Anybody from DFW thinking about joining the SA group for another 3 Twisted Sis cruise on the 24th?

You guys/girls are more than welcome to join me/ATS Racing on February 14th (Valentines Day) as well. I know at least 6 of us are bringing wives/girlfriends, so don't be scared about that.

If you care, details:

Our group stays at the YO Ranch. We usually get discounts and free breakfast, but I'm not sure if that was set up this time or not since I will be staying with my in-laws instead. There is a buffet in the restaurant on site, so everything you need is right there. There's also liquor stores and other places to eat or buy food should you rather do that.

E85 station right down the road from the hotel. Last time we all made the trip from Denton on E85 with no worries, there are stations along the route we take (281 for the most part). Some of us had 5 gallon jugs filled just in case, but nobody needed them at any point during the entire trip. I averaged ~24mpg on the runs, and 21mpg on the drives there/back - figure that one out. There were some cars that get 18mpg at best on E85 and none of them had issues making it either. If you get mid-teens or less, you might want to bring a full jug with you. If you run pump fuel, you obviously have nothing at all to worry about.

So far I am the only confirmed FRS/BRZ going, but there are a few other non-MR2s as well. I won't be traveling with the group there or back , but that doesn't matter. Last time there was around 22 cars (~20 MR2s of all vintages, my FRS, and a new Challenger). People came from all over: DFW area, Austin, San Antonio, Georgia...

There is virtually no chance of getting a ticket ON the run with our group. The speed limit is 60 or whatever...we stay that speed as long as we can. So the straight sections don't expect to be going 100+ unless you want to for your own personal gratification (at no point was it needed/forced to stay with the group). First few seconds of the video linked below pretty much sums it up.

If you're really bored, here's a video made by one of our guys: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr_...ZnWhKhyk9LxyUg. The vast majority of footage was useless due to the sun, so that sucks. Note the last car in the banner picture

But yeah, if anyone is interested, please let me know and I'll get you some more details.
