Thank you! She's happy now. Haru is growing like a weed, what we saw with both of our Finnish Spitz that doubled height and weight between months 4-5.

Since adopting Oreo last April I have been thinking it would be nice for him to have a companion cat since I don't intend to be at home all the time after the pandemic.

Was online searching and eventually went to see some adoption cats at a Petsmart location that is a bit far away from my home. All the kittens seem to be bonded and only offered in pairs which will not be an option for us. My son really took to a 4 year old female cat. She has spent 2 months now in the little adoption space primarily inside a tiny cube. She is super friendly and immediately head butted our hands when we tried to pet her. She is a big girl with a thick coat and big paws.

Plus, she is wearing a wrestling mask! I have an adoption phone interview scheduled tonight and hopefully this girl will be adjusting to her new home with us very soon! She purrs so much they named her Perdita.

Haru has been sneezing quite a bit more than usual the last two days. Otherwise pretty normal behavior, eating and drinking like normal. He's still a bit young for allergies according to the internet so I've been a little worried. Hopefully it's nothing. Of course the mind jumps to distemper or kennel cough but he has the vaccines.

Well, he's been in the grass lately and weed pollen levels are high so may be something there.

That's a fair point. He's definitely doing it outside fairly often, and he loves pushing his muzzle into the grass/dirt, which I'm sure doesn't help lol.

Long story short, I took Haru to a vet today and after some testing stuff found out he has a form of kennel cough (we're waiting on the lab results to know which virus/bacteria is the root cause).

Fortunately it never got to a very serious point. Just enough that I was kinda concerned and as a first-time puppy parent decided I wanted to be safe rather than sorry and bring him in.

From the tests they did have results for, it seems like some mild pneumonia/inflammation was present in the upper respiratory system.

So now he's on antibiotics and won't be able to play with other dogs for 3 weeks.

So sorry to hear that. Good thing you got on it fast, kennel cough can develop into some nasty outcomes for young dogs. You did the right thing.

But, it doesn't make sense that he had his Bordetella vaccine and then got the virus. I'm wondering if it's canine flu. Did he vomit?

Get better soon, Haru.
