I just wasted my time reading about some bs how the people at these meets are dbags... are you effing kidding me? I literally will talk to anyone about anything and everyone is frickin nice. I have made some seriously good friends at this meet. we usually caravan there and then maybe go for a cruise after. I admit Im fairly outgoing so I will talk to anyone who will listen, but 86 owners at this meet are so friendly. Sorry to say but if you think the people at this meet are dbags you arent giving them a fair chance. I have not gone in 2 weeks because I was rear ended but i legitamately look forward to meeting new people on tuesday nights. I cant say enough how seriously awesome it is. With all that said, I admit I definitely rev on my way up that parking garage. Call me an asshole, but its harmonics, and it is a beautiful thing. If this bugs everyone so much here point the revving blame at me, because Ill be scarface, haha you can say him thats the bad guy! or however the quote goes haha.

TLDR these meets are awesome, and you can take your negativity elsewhere. cheers.

How are all my fellow dbags XD Just kidding ^_^ I've not been in two weeks, my migraines are on Defcon 1 lately so if anything is a dbag it's my dern migraines -nods-

What I said earlier about meeting one not so nice person, well always one in a bunch of bananas, otherwise everyone else I've met has been very nice, once this gal opens up - then y'all find out I'm one heck of a crazy Cubana o,o... I will say, I am not the type to approach though, I'm just gunshy that way, but once I get to know you better... I still may not HA HA, just how I am, not a snot or nothing, just feel I bother people and most think I'm a taco short of a combo plate and the fact that if you start talking all technical doo dads about engine parts here's MoMo @_@ -pulls out FRS/BRZ engine mods for dummies- but I really dig and appreciate those that take your time and are happy to talk to me about stuff like that and break it down for me, explain it, what it does and "No, MoMo, it's not for you" @bear89103 LOL or @DNAPoPo

I am MoMo the Crazy but Shy Cuban and I approve these awesome Meets and all the awesome peeps who attend, VIVA!

I quickly read some of the posts and here are my thoughts:

When I had my own car enthusiast website and scheduled meets I would take the responsibility to meet everyone who came and introduced them to everyone else. I mean it makes sense to do that since the meet was my idea.

However at these meets it feels more like a impromptu car show with ego strutting. I have no idea who anyone is and when I do try to talk to people its quite off putting.

There needs to be key people. Not everyone is an extrovert.

I do agree that it helps to have more extroverts out there. I also think that it's as much the responsibility of each person individually to meet people themselves. Let's be fair, this isn't kindergarden where we have a school teacher that tries to integrate everyone into the class. We're all adults here. All or at least most are over the age of 18. We can all put on our big boy pants and try a little out there.

Whenever I go, I'm always available to talk to and have a great time connecting with new people. I don't go every week. But if you want to just hang out with someone, just look me up if you're ever there.

I`ll be the first to admit... I`m not the best person approaching new people (Glen and Jason are) but I am always willing to meet new people and share the love for cars

Let`s also try to behave so that we can keep people who are running the event all happy and worry-free. Personally I havent seen anything stupid and I think that really represent our group in a good way.

looking forward to meeting you all next week!

Brian said the miata/uci guys were telling everyone we're dbags talk about assumptions being had. Jason and glen no ones bad mouthing them we are informing Jason, Glen the things being said. Jason and Glen?? actually helped me with a better understanding about under steer bc my car was acting up! Clifton also had this problem so they were trying to help also introducing me to everyone, no ones hating just stating they are things being thrown around that's untrue.

I've always had good experiences at these kinds of things. Meeting new people, running into old friends, usually always a good time!

Here's my opinions on the major concerns being thrown around: people bad mouthing other peoples cars and people not feeling particular welcome/people already in their own groups. This is not anything specific to the irvine meet, but human nature in general.

1. People bad mouthing your car. The fact is there will always people who are going to be negative towards your car. It's called an opinion. If you're gonna say you don't care what people's opinions are but then state you won't come out because of the negativity, then you obviously care. The question is, would you have felt better if you weren't present to hear it? Because I guarantee you that no matter what meet you go to, people are hating, just most of the time it's behind your back so you never hear it personally. You just have to accept it's going to happen. Again I think it's just because you happened to be present that your opinion of the irvine meet is worse than other meets out there.
2. Cliques will always form given the same general population who see each other on a consistent basis. This phenomenon just happens because people will eventually gravitate towards others that match in personality, etc. it happens in school, it happens on the workplace, etc. the irvine meet has been ongoing for quite a while now, so I'm not surprised that groups have formed. The fact is, as groups, we share or have experiences things that will obviously get lost in translation for brand new people coming in, which is most likely the reason we won't just be shouting hey join us. At the same time, I highly doubt anyone at the meet is telling people to get lost or that they're unwanted or anything. I think it's to be expected that as the new person, you need to be the one making more effort to introduce yourself and get noticed. Again, this isn't anything meet specific, but society in general.

So what I've stated here, again, has more to do with human nature than anything with this meet.

@DSOmegaX you nailed it! Very true, I know that when I go, again I havent been in about 2 weeks because I was rear ended, I gravitate to friendly faces. But I am always willing to chat it up with anyone about any car! Im a total car noob, hey im learning, and people are always cool when im like whoa what does that do, or discussing new ideas for mods. Like the last time I was there I talked with some people about fabricating a bike rack onto the back of the frs. Just random cool talk with car owners. I have nothing but love for car owners of all types, shapes, and sizes. I always try to talk to the other car owners who show up, ahah especially if the evo guys come because I love evos haha, just wasnt for me. SO I just want to say thanks to everyone at these meets who gives us a good rep and is always so chill with people like me,(noobs haha), but hey we all were beginners at some point!!!!
So Im going to make a point to go on tuesday, I will probably be in some crappy rental haha, but Ill be there. My name is brandon im 6 foot and i have a shaved head and a goatee. If i have my car its a black frs with the plate so made. do what you want with that info, I like the nametag idea but lets face it most people are gonna rock nametags haha. so if you see me say whatsup! tell me you love my car! or that you hate it!! haha its a car meet its all for fun and love of our babies right???

Lol, Not you too Derek!! Again, Not bad mouthing the meet in any way, shape, or form. I never stated that Irvine meet is worse than any other meet nor did I state any other meet was better than the Irvine meet. Like I said, its life. And I'll just end it there ,

All car meets are for their babies! I just wish we could get along! Sadly other people have a bad impression about the Irvine meet, was just hoping we could change that. That is all I'm trying to do! I hope you guys really don't take this the wrong way.

I think you may be the only one who really understands what I'm trying to get at. I think when I informed everyone, people took it as an attack at the Irvine meet. I was just hoping to inform people, so we are more aware of our actions, and maybe we can be the bigger man (or woman) and step up, and introduce ourselves or just chit chat with the Miata / UCI guys that come.

Again, I shared MY OWN, personal experience of the meet. Please do not think I am attacking the meet. I said I dont attend, but i dont go around telling everyone the meet is horrible. Its MY OWN experience, and experiences do vary from person to person.

Also, i thank @bear89103 for being extremely inviting and friendly!

Woah! What happened here..all this talk is just making me want to attend the meet even more lol. but really brian?? Thats so immature of the miata and uci guys to hate like that for no real reason. I honestly think they're just jealous of the strong organization clubft86 has. Havent they ever heard of an american muscle meet? Ive been to one or two and thats the definition of douche right there.. It was just a bunch of guys arguing who has the biggest penis aka 1/4 mile times. And theres nothing you can do about the hate on your own car man. I get clowned on sometimes too but the number of praises I get greatly outweigh the negativity i've received so when I do receive hate, it doesn't phase me. We set ourself up for it trying to stance a car thats supposed to be "all function." Think about those guys running around with slammed evos stis and supras that put up with the same bs from other enthusiasts everyday

This thread has deviated....

PradiG's initial post was telling us that other guys dislike us.

Then, it lead to people defending the meet, and other people sharing how they feel about the meet (example: its an impromptu car show with ego strutting)

then, PradiG shared his experience of the meet (which made people more defensive. Also, i dont see how 1 negative experience made everyone so defensive. Everyone will always have different things to say about something)

Which lead to people critiquing PradiG's experience. Yes i agree with DSOmegaX, but his experience wasnt the initial problem we were discussing, although it was a good retort.

To get back on track: Miata guys / UCI guys arent fond of us. Sometimes, we have to look at the other persons point of view as well, to understand both sides. There are always two sides to every story. While everyone is defending the meet, saying we're all good guys, yes we are but thats our opinion of our selves. Right? Shouldn't we try to see things from their point of view? Unless we want to say screw it, we dont care about them, but wouldnt that make us "bad guys" which would be ironic? lol
