What is the rpm at idle? Typically the idle will be raised to 850-1000 from the stock 650-800. How is it running at speed?

I'm not a tuner or the best at reading these things. It is possible to interpret something wrong that is normal or normal for the conditions and not the cause of the problem. My idle is pretty flat and smooth, so any comparison might not be correct. Like I have zero direct injector duty at idle, but you have a combination of both, but is that because you have a fluctuating idle or is it just a difference in tuner and is it bad or is it fine? My throttle angle at idle says 14.5 and your sales 0, so I don't know if my tuner had set up the idle to be higher than stock. My port time at 900-1500 is 1.0-1.25 ms and my direct is 0. Your port time at 1500 is 1.25 to 1.35 ms, and your direct time is 1.65 to 1.85 ms, which means you have more fuel going. Your afr is not hitting close to the target, fluctuating up and down, but I don't know what is causing that situation. My vacuum at idle around 900 rpms is 0.32 bar, which is 0.68 away from 1 bar of atmosphere, which is 20 inHG of vacuum. Your 900-1000 rpm idle was fluctuating around 4.5-5.5 psi, which is around 18-20 inHG, so I don't think you have a leak in the manifold, or I feel like that value would be much closer to atmosphere. What does your tuner say?

Long term fuel trim is 20% at idle, adding fuel. Short term is 0 and then goes negative, trying to remove fuel to fight the long term fuel maybe. Then the long term drops out and the short term takes over and is widely fluctuating. I think there is a vacuum leak somewhere or there is a fuel leak, or the injectors are clocked weird. Both could cause long term trims to be so high.

Hi Brain Trust,
I am after some long-term reviews and recommendations for the Harrop Supercharger kit from people who track their car. I am hoping to join the gang once Harrop starts selling those again. I am an enthusiastic beginner and attended about 25 track days on my first year. I put a maximum of 15,000 Km max / year on my facelift Toyota 86, subtropical weather (Australia). I’d be keen to have some basic data from previous owners, how long they had their kit for, what track usage it gets in what kind of weather, and what broke during that time. In term of recommendation, what would be a conservative / reliable setup and things like pulley size and other supporting mods? I would be running e85 most of the time. And do I really have to cut air vents in the hood… Thank you! |

Hello! I'm in the same boat as you, waiting for Harrop to start selling kits again. I have a good set of exhaust pipes, e85, and an oil cooler, and I was told by Zach from CSG (my tuner) I could easily make ~320 from the stock pulley, and that's just the beginning. Start stepping down sizes from there for more power. From my research on the kit, and from others in this forum, my confidence in the reliability of this kit is fairly high, especially if you're not running too small of a pulley.

Harrop claims 335 crank on their dyno tune for e85 and uel headers. Just saw you aren't from AUS... Don't know how you'll go with shipping costs for that |

Started with a 90mm pulley, headers, bigger single exhaust and 98ron. About 222hp at the wheels on 98ron. I uprated the radiator and added an oil cooler. Ran it like that for 3 years, with %100 reliability. About 2 years ago went the whole hog with the 65mm pulley, flex fuel, motec and a built motor. About 346 hp at the wheels on E85. Great fun.... but huge costs. Been very reliable so far (after I solved the belt issues with the smaller pulley). You really don't need to put vents in the bonnet... the car spends a lot of time in hot weather doing this with no dramas temperature wise: Last edited by grumpysnapper; 10-10-2021 at 09:49 AM. |

I would have expected 280 wheel on 98 and 320 on e85, then 350+ when you started upgrading the pulley and other components based on HARROPs info and in comparison to other kits |
