Been out of town for a pro solo. I sucked, came in dead last (actually 6th out of 8), but my co-driver placed 2nd, about 3/4 of a second out of the lead.

The new rear top hats gave us another inch or so of shock travel, and Elliot, my co-driver, has ordered new springs for our coil overs. The final install will be rear lower control arms.

Before the Z06, about 5 or six years ago I drove a new but stock base model Corvette and around an off ramp with the 6 inch metal expansion joints every few feet, the back end would jump a few inches sideways on every one of them. Not the front, just the back. Didn't exactly build confidence. They are not easy cars to go fast in. No way our cars do that. Could we beat them on a road course. Probably not. Are our cars more rewarding to drive. Oh yeah! I'd much rather have mine.
I driven a few cars autoxing, and this is the order of handling.
Modified 2003 BMW 330 - probably the best handling one in the nationF
FR-S with mods (mine)
1999 Miata MX5 with mods (suspension, ecu, intake, exhaust, wheels, and tires)
Stock FR-S with Dunlop Star Specs
BMW M-3 with aftermarket shocks, sway bar, and Hoosier R-tires
Ferrari Scuderia
Ferrari California
2008 Audi TT 3.2 with Kumho R-tires
2008 Audi TT 3.2 with Dunlop Star Specs
Lamborghini Gallardo
2009 Corvette Z06 with race package (supercharger, suspension, unfortunately with street tires)

To be fair to the Ferraris and the Lambo, the traction controls were on. However, even without controls, the Lambo would still suck because it was a heavy pig.

Pass through sockets are a must for spring changes on this car. Do NOT use an impact gun to blast the topnut off. You CAN, but you WILL damage the seals. A Hex key (6mm I believe) and the pass through socket for the nut and a couple of people to hold stuff and you should be fine. Like I said, I did mine on a driveway on jackstands, then again in a shop with a lift; I'll gladly lend a hand. Plus, this will give me an excuse to come to Phoenix to pick up FRShadow's HIDs. Hopefully you don't do this Saturday (6th), I have a pretty big install to do that day (my secret project).

Well if Jeff wants to do a double date with a spring install (we have the exact same springs) I am willing to help split all the costs for whatever we need, ie. beer and pizza :happy0180: for whoever comes over.

No need to have anyone hold it while we can loosen top nut while the struts are bolted in...... Once we get it a little loosen then we can pull strut out and exchange springs and then hook it all back together, throw the struts back in, torque everything down and BAM, done! But you can use an impact you just need to know what your doing...... I learned the hard way and did break a seal but learned the lesson and know what to do now....... Just needs to be on its lowest setting and not fully engage the impact guns trigger and do it in burst..... But we will use a regular wrench and socket so none of this "bad" can happen

Ps- if anything does, i got 4 struts just chillin :happy0180:
