That was my main favorite band growing up and I'd still put them in my top 3 favorite bands of all time. And man the FVT was the shit too, its too bad most members dropped from the band, but I'm glad JD still know what's good.

Just spent half my lunch break going back and forth trying to follow the whole conversation about Giccin terrorizing a car salesman. Not entirely sure why I had such a sudden interest in it. 0_o

Comparing what the two said, ZDan is clearly a professional engineer, and they are either new and inexperienced or not. Reinforced by the '6061 is difficult to machine' statement.

Second is their materials choices and secrecy. The 'trust us it's better but we won't tell you what it is' irks me. China doesn't copy expensive materials because of cost, and potential competition can sort out what it is from what they've inferred. 6013 aluminium from Alcoa is superior to 6061 and 440C stainless is stronger than 4130 in tension.

So when you get some filing time, there you go. (Although I would want to have an engineer look at the stress direction on the stainless piece, since stainless is weak in shear.)

Personally I would chrome-moly all the things for a street car because of the higher fatigue limit, properly heat-treated for any weldments.
Thanks for the materials suggestions, but honestly, I was only reading about those parts out of curiosity. I'll most likely be leaving the stock control arms and toe control arms, just replacing everything with poly.

As for 6061 being hard to machine (I'm pretty sure 6061 is the standard off the self aluminum, isn't it?) ...yeah, you could almost carve it with a knife. I've taken 200 thou cuts, using a HSS bit I ground myself and not very well honestly, on 6061. As long as I kept the cooling going it didn't make a lick of difference.

Agreed! Though the limited space between the emergency brake cable and the bottom of the ball joint is a little concerning.

This might sound f-in stupid, but I wonder if it would be possible to remove the OEM ball joint from the arm, and replace it upside down giving a few mm's of correction. (take a look at the arm, the ball joint is offset) Then just get poly bushings from Stan Strano. End result, corrected, streetable, more precise, low NVH, OEM reliable, toe control arms. All for the price of the labour and the $70 bushings.

I didn't get much sleep last night & am sick, and should have gone home many hours ago but my boss wont let me, so if that sounds as retarded as I fear it does, just ignor it please.

I don't own an mp3 player. CD's is as far down in recording accuracy as I'm willing to go. If I could afford it, I'd be rocking vinyl, tubes and electro static speakers. Just too many hobbies.

The problem is that the stupid people are procreating faster then the smart people. Those us of smart enough to plan to have kids when we can afford it, and only have as many kids as we can handle, are having WAY less kids then people like my sister in law...I mean stupid people.

Well then get one.

I'm just messing around, so don't take it to heart.

I know it seems like a bit of miles, but for a good first car which I will dd, its fine. Only thing is...

V8 D:

Thirsty for my money (gas wise)

Other cars I have in mind are:
300ZX (turbo please)
Moderate modified 240sx
Miata with LSD
High mile S2k
Porsche boxer (98-03) but maybe not really

All in common - could be found under $10k, nice sounding, looking, reliable RWD cars
I don't care about space, seats, or a hard roof
