But you are right, it is harder to stay on your side because they are not always on apex and it is a narrow window like you said. Hell, I try to hug the should as much as possible actually in case someone comes around a turn in the middle. Quote:

My night vision got horrible, I'm only 29. Think it's both a combination of cars having brighter headlights and just my luck/genetics and me working in front of computers all day.
I once took a wrong turn on Skyline due to fog + nighttime + a monster truck tailgating me and somehow ended going down a mountain and ended up in Woodside. Never pucked my asshole so tight. I had to pull over and pee from the sheer fear.

I lost a friend on Page Mill a few years back.. Mountain driving is definitely not the place to go flat out on, or to play initial d driving-in-both-lanes drift king. It blows my mind how reckless some people seem to drive.

If you're only doing 30 mph and the other guy is doing 30 mph that's like slamming into a concrete wall at 60 mph, if you're lucky you'll only be in the hospital for a few days. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to pull you out of the ditch though, your life could be in danger if you slide down a mountain and it takes a few hours to get you to the hospital. Never drive so fast that you can't stop in time if there's a surprise around the corner. Stay in your lane. These are basic safety rules that you need to follow and if the US had better driver training and enforcement there would be a lot fewer accidents. If you want to go fast and hit every apex and slide around, go to the track or autox, we're very fortunate to live in an area where there are tons of opportunities to drive flat out safely, doing it on public roads, even just casually crossing the center lane line only puts your life and others at risk for almost no reason. |

off-topic off topic
![]() People on caltrain make me ![]() I got on at San Jose this morning while it was empty. Another guy gets on five minutes later, decides to sit right next to me instead of just about literally any other space, and then tries taking my arm rest. He kept elbowing me hard the first 30 minutes of the train ride to give himself space on the arm rest. All that time there were still empty seats, even one right across from us with a free arm rest. So I took my headphones off and said "can you stop elbowing me in the arm? it's irritating." and he responded that he wanted to use the armrest, so I said he should ask about sharing, and he still didn't, but he finally let up on the pressure. People are super passive about this stuff and in reality they have all the time in the world to get more comfortable elsewhere or have some common courtesy to be polite, yet they decide they own everything. It's kinda ridiculous. At least this guy didn't punch me in the arm like the last time someone did the elbowing thing on the train.. |

I just don't appreciate someone calling someone a dumbass online when that someone else I remember was doing the same shit when I trolled him on Mines. Never called him a dumbass let alone post the footage I got of him. Apparently, he must be so perfect he don't ever cross the line so hence someone who does it is a dumbass. Well, I cross the line therefore I claim myself a dumbass. Help!! I had "faknbrz" pull the video off his IG. So who's really trolling. And thanks for being civil on your reply/post. Some of us just can't contain ourselves on calling people "dumbasses"

Honestly imho it CAN be done safely if you can see up the road, and part of that video I wouldn't have batted an eye, just like you. There was great visibility through those little switchbacks and I and yourself and many others have done exactly the same thing.
It's the blind corners where you can lose your life, that video was precisely an example of that, he went around that right hander in the dead center of the road and had zero idea there was a bigass SUV doing the exact same thing 100 feet ahead. He was very lucky and likely was slowed down appropriately to react in time, but it was still a much closer call than I or many others would be comfortable with. But if that SUV was going a little quicker or was further up the road by even 10 feet he would have had zero chance of avoiding it. Quote:
