Not new here per se. Been reading the forums since mid-2011. Didn't really know the site existed before then. I can't really even remember how I stumbled upon it. I just remember it was the middle of the Top Gear 17 Season and every time I watch that show I get an itching to buy a car and probably got here through a series of Google searches.
Anyway, I've taken more of a liking to the BRZ than the FR-S so far (sorry!) but haven't made up my mind yet. Something just draws me to the car. Not fond of the front bumper but it's not bothering me as much as it initially did, especially with the license plate covering part of it. Anyway, I drive a piece of crap car and admit I'm not much of a car person. I've always been interested but didn't know where to get started on learning. It's pretty embarrassing when people talk about the ins and outs of their car and I just nod my head like I have a clue. Anyway, I'm from the Kelowna area of BC, Canada. There's 3 Subaru dealerships around here but no Scion dealerships. If anything that's one reason I was learning towards Scion. It'd be nice to live in a place where there's few of the same type of car. But then again, being far from a dealership is probably a bad idea. Anyway... A little sidetracked there... More meant to say, hi! |

Hello all, the name's Michael...
First I saw of the FR-S was while picking up my wife's new Venza last fall; the salesman had a small preview brochure posted on the side of his cubicle. BANG! Love at first sight... put down a deposit there and then. Always have appreciated the handling of rear wheel drive vehicles; currently the stable includes a '64 Bonneville BB coupe, a '46 Hudson BB PU, a '72 El Camino SB, a '59 Ford Country Sedan Y-block, a '59 Ranchero 292 Y-block, a '66 Corvair Monza 140, a '48 Ford F47 SB, a '76 Camaro SB and an '07 Toyota FJ, so l have quite the eclectic mix of years and genres. What can I say, my nick says it all. My daughter's last car was a Sooby Forester, so I became quite enamored with that marque, in particular with the Boxer... quite the little beast! Anyway, looking forward to the preview my dealer and the Toyota distributor has promised to provide a select few of us prior to the unveiling at the upcoming Toronto Auto Show... can't wait for the 18th! If they let me take some photos up close and personal, I'll be sure to post 'em... If anyone has some questions for the design team (some of them are reported to be there!) post/pm me and I'll do my best to get answers... cheers, michael

What up fellas?
I'm 'Prince' from Malaysia and currently studying/living in LA. I own a '92 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado FJ78 Turbo and will soon fit in a 1JZGTE engine in that beast when I get back home. Hoping to buy the Scion FR-S here when it comes out. Well that's all.

Hello all, been browsing the forums for a couple weeks, thought I'd finally stop in and say "hello." This will likely be my first/only brand new car, hoping to replace my '08 Chevy HHR. Before the HHR I had a 2001 Honda Prelude... fun car but the auto tranny crapped out twice and I needed more cargo space. Don't need the cargo space anymore, and I'm tired of being the guy with the "mini-minivan". Haven't had a rear-drive car since my first car, an '85 Chevy Caprice. Looking forward to driving for the sake of driving again. I'll probably be getting an automatic Scion FR-S, undecided on the color. I want to see the orange in person, if it looks as good as it does in GT5 I'll lean that way.

Hi peeps,
My name is Marcos and I drive a 97 Celica. I've been a Toyota fan for like my whole life. I worked at the Toyota dealership in Burlington, NC. Upon starting I realized I did not like any vehicles on their inventory except the tC. That all changed with the Scion FR-S/GT86. After watching the Chris Harris initial 20 minute review I'm all excited. My plans are to buy a FR-S in 2 or 3 years since it is new tech and I want them the take care of all the glitches and kinks. While I wait I will be getting all the options I can including turbo's, wheels and hopefully a kit by 5axis. Until then I will be drinking ALOT of water since my salivating has escalated to unhealthy proportions. |

Hi FRS, GT86, and BRZ fans,
I'm finally able to buy a sports car. I always had to have a truck and I have owned 3 Toyotas and got many miles on each without problems. I still own my 2000 Tacoma 4x4 which I will not get rid of for camping and 4x4 fun. I used to be a flagger/photographer for the SCCA Cal Club 1985-1993 and I always wanted a sports car. Now the time has come. I have been also driving my moms old 1989 Toyota Corolla, when she became ill and past away , Thanks mom RIP. This is my everyday car. It has over 180,000 miles and the differential is going out, the weak link of the car. The engine is still strong but that year's differential is unobtainable. I looked everywhere. The 1989 had a different differential from other years. The car is rusting, needs struts, worn out rack & pinion. I almost bought a Mini Clubman last year but I read Mini's fall apart after 36,000 miles. So I decided to wait. I'm glad I did. Then I saw the FT86/FR-S concept last year. I became very interested. Then I saw the production prototype and I read it was going to get good gas milage @30+mpg and and decided this would be my next everyday car. The FR-S has the best of all worlds: a real 2+2 sports car with storage space, good gas milage and Toyota reliability. I have deposit on a Asphalt FR-S. I like the FR-S looks better than BRZ. I don't care if has been badged a Scion, we all know it is Toyota with a Subaru boxer motor with the Toyota 86 x 86 specs and Subaru suspension. Subaru makes great cars! It has the Lexus direct/port fuel injection, transmission and differential. All part of the Toyota family (Toyota owns Lexus, Aisin, Torsen and @14% Fuji Heavy Industries which owns Subaru). I can't wait !!! |

Hey everyone! My name is Albert and I drive a Lexus SC400 '97 model. I love the quality and performance and not to mention the pursuit of perfection by Toyota/Lexus. My whole family drives only lexus vehicles because they're so reliable. My first time seeing the FR-S was through my friend who showed it to me. I was instantly hooked. Mostly, because I wanted an 86 corolla a couple years back but seeing the FR-S changed my mind. I love the design, what's going inside it, and pretty much everything about the car. It looks so exotic but for hopefully a cheap price so that we can all enjoy the feel of driving a sporty looking car without breaking our banks. Up til now, I've been researching everything I can about this car and I absolutely love it. I'll probably wait a year after it comes out to buy one though just in case of recalls and reported first release wave problems. Nonetheless, I'm sure I'll be getting this soon and my buddy who also plans to get it, is a mechanic who owns his own hobby garage and has friends who already have a test version of the FR-S that are beginning to make after market parts for the GT86. I'm gonna go with him and I'll get to see it soon actually
. Maybe get a hook up on parts later on? i don't know. The more I think about this car the more impatient I get to buy it. Haha. So I'll be around here often and I hope to meet some other cool enthusiasts of this car on this forum. I'm located in SoCal around San Diego/Temecula area by the way. See you around.
