I agree that the new front is an aquired taste but some of the chops out there have really made it look great. I would love to have this car and will look forward to owning it if the FRS/BRZ comes out over 23-26k

I also stated that the looks were significant enough negatively that I will likely overlook any expected (and I do expect) suspension and drivetrain improvement.

Plus I have more faith in a company (or team in this case) that can get more with less, the first time out, than have to wait for a revision, like the Hyundai.

Provided the frs actually gets more done which may not even happen despite not even being less

I expect it will exceed the GenCoupe in every area that I am interested in except power:weight. And power increases are pretty straight-forward compared to pretty (non-gutted) weight reduction, or sorting questionable factory suspension.

That being said, the Canadian GenCoupe pricing makes me rather concerned about what they will try to squeeze out of Canadian buyers. Scion's been reasonably good to us, but they've never had a sports/halo car before and those are where our dealers like raping Canadians (compare WRX or 370Z pricing, then tC pricing).

I don't care for 346hp when the 2011 model has 310hp. Now if the GC had only 250hp in the V6 then I could understand. But 310hp is good enough for 3400lbs. Thats like saying 240hp is good enough for 2700lbs. And I bet it is.

Once a sports car drops below 10lbs/1hp I no longer care anymore.

Is this for me, SUB?

My power:weight reference was that the FR-S would be superior to the GenCoupe in all the areas I am interested in, except power:weight.

It's too bad they screwed up the face. Sorting out the transmission and suspension on the new model, plus feeding in more stock power, that eliminates a lot (most actually) of my complaints.

If there were no FR-S coming out, this is my only real option, I think. I would be looking at the base 2.0T at ~$25k instead of the GT, and then do aftermarket brakes, LSD and suspension down the road. Weight I could probably end up living with.

But the new face...

I agree. Doesn't look that bad in darker colors. But each person has their own personal preference.

I see what you are saying, but if I went with the GC it would be the 2.0T.

Or you could come down to America if the FRS didn't exist and buy the 2.0T R-Spec for the same money you mention and get most of those things you mentioned stock rather than aftermarket.

We pay 25k + dest, in the USA for

2.0T 274hp
Brembo Brakes
Torsen-type LSD
Track tuned suspension
Camber bolts
Red and Black interior with part leather/part cloth
Ipod dock and Bluetooth
No Cruise Control.

I can't think of another RWD sport coupe with more features for the money as a Mustang V6 Sport Package doesn't come with some of these features (No Brembo's on V6)including independent rear suspension.

For a daily driver, that has always been the thing that I despised about the R-Spec. Otherwise it is perfect. I know you can get a cruise control after market, but it just isn't the same as OEM. For long daily commutes, cruise control is a must for me. But I agree, it is very well spec'd.

Goddammit... Every time things get into pricing I have a panic attack that we are going to get screwed on the FR-S. (CDN price = US price +25% or something) I keep telling myself that Scion kept the tC difference pretty fair, but all the other manufacturers' 'halo' cars are brutally marked up.

I think the only way I could live with the new face is with a black car. Would kind of tone down the grill/bumper.
