What catback that you are running? I am going to run exactly the same setup but with ARK grip catback. The only thing that I am worrying about is whether it is going to be too loud, hah.

Sounds like your previous tune was not correct.

I parked mine outside a Pho restaurant.
Walked in, and two of the waiters were up front looking out the window.
"Nah man, that's a BRZ - it has the fender vent"
Turns out, one of them had an Impreza and the other a prev-gen WRX.
Ended up chatting with them - on the way out, revved the engine a bit because they wanted to hear what the intake and exhaust sounded like.

Subros.

Final torque check after installing bushings (rear subframe and diff inserts, shifter) and took it off the jack stands and out for a spin... (I get to work on the car 30 minutes at a time some evenings, so I leave it up for a few days...)

Nice loud whine now, I assume from the rear end. Not sure about this yet. Waiting till I get the header and exhaust update in, which may simply raise the base level anyway... I have sound system updates in mind anyway...

Stock catback for now. I don't think it's too loud at all. Don't know about the ark grip, though.

Tune was ok in that it was the correct tune. It just didn't address the cold start, so I fixed it.

If the alarm is armed on the car, will the alarm go off if the car is still running? Only reason I haven't tried it cause I know it usually goes off if the key is used since I have mine on.

I see, thank you!

ARK grip is not loud at all, so I think I should be good.
I have already ordered the front pipe and going to order header & overpipe soon.

My OFH/Perrin catback are making my house shake for the first 50 seconds the car is running.. I'd like to do this fix but I read there's a functional reason that it starts up the way it does, and it's best not to tamper with it.

What are your thoughts on that? Is there any potential harm that can be done with improper warm up?

After reading through the threads here and here as long as you only remove the valve overlap, you should be ok with no negative effects in my opinion. I'll probably try it when I do get headers.

Disclaimer: I'm no expert. However, everything I've read indicates that the cold start is purely to warm up the cats. You're really not going to gain much temp in the fluids in one minute of warmup anyways. The only change I made was preventing the car from retarding ignition during warmup.

I'm totally happy I did it. The cold start is still loud-ish, but MUCH more reasonable (and doesn't sound quite as crappy). Haven't noticed any effect on normal driving.

Thanks for the info, I think I'm going to give it a try. The idle is quiet as a mouse after the rpm's drop, but that first 50 seconds is LOUD.

That's my dream right there. The only time I've ever paid off a car... is when I sold it. I'm determined to keep this one until it's at least paid off though. Good job!
