Well, haven’t had to avoid any backing white FRS’s this week.

I have a super rare picture, from the Puyallup Denny's parking lot of a dent free rear end of @humfrz's FRS.

I need to stop looking at eBay. M139 engines are shockingly cheap.

I’ve been wanting to do a v8 mini truck for a long time. My neighbor has a 90’s s10 that is on the street covered in moss. Been thinking about going and talking to him about it.

Last year I had committed my time and effort to the wellbeing of my current project.. this meant not taking weeks and weeks off etc.. Instead I decided, with my wife's blessing, to take Fridays off.. This worked really well, we were doing more over the longer weekends.

Loved it so much I am planning to do the same this year, however I did note my line manger and his boss getting a bit prickly as my Fridays rolled over a number of months..

Really tempted to float the idea of a 4 day week but I think it won't go down well with the "grown-ups" in my company..

Anyone else practicing a 4 day week but getting paid the full week?

I have the luxury of working remote and making my own hours. And yeah I try to work as much as I can early in the week so I can weekend properly.

How does the winding down coming up to the weekend work with your fellow colleagues? Are they expecting you to be available for the full week?

I'm kind of on-call 24/7.. If I can get to a computer I can fix most small issues in like 20min. Assuming I answer my phone, but I usually do unless I'm like flying or something.

When the company I used to work for first opened the hourly staff worked 44 hours per week. Monday thru Thursday full days and then off at 1:00 o’clock on Fridays. As business picked up we went to a full five day week. At one point we had 80-90 employees working two shifts six days a week. Everyone except us on salary earned huge over time money.
Unfortunately the precision sheet metal industry was up and down like a toilet seat. Twice when times were really bad the company took advantage of a government program called “Work Share.” We worked part of the week for regular pay and part of the week we sat home and collected Employment Benefits. This program was only to be used on a temporary basis. The company was only able to use it the two times because they asked for and received extensions. The first was 3 days on 2 days off. The second was a true 50/50 split.
When things really started to go bad they made more people salaried with a fixed rate and then forced us to work 60+ hours. The hourly rated lost all over time and then got put on four day weeks. Some worked Friday and got Monday off the others got Friday off and worked the Monday. By the time I got the axe even the majority of salaried were working only four days a week at a reduced pay rate. (It was OK for the company to exploit us when it helped them but were super quick to cut our incomes when they cut our hours.)
Really and truly though everyone loved the long weekends. Even with earning less money most of us saved on car expenses and in other areas so it wasn’t a hardship.
Were you using vacation days to cover the income loss for the Fridays you took off? I can’t see why any company would balk at an employee spreading their vacation time out. It only hurts if the company does a full shut down for summer holidays. Then there is lost production.

I was using my vacation time so got paid the full salary. I think it grated my immediate mangers as they're more used to staff taking blocks of days not one day each week. But it's my WTF moment, Fridays will be my time off, will kick-start my programme late May or from mid June..
