so I was re-looking at the mkII pics. side view isn't too bad, but more & more I look at the front & rear lights, more & more I'm hating the design. If they fix the lights to smooth things out w chassis, I would love it more... but as for current mkII front/rear lights goes... seriously disappointed.

KT's photoshop with the rear with red and white lights, and lomodr's with the lowered diffuser give me a tiny bit of hope for the rear end. But I don't like the silly vents at the corners of the tail-lights, or the extra vents on the outsides of the diffuser.

On a positive note, looking how the bumper attaches in the rear, an aftermarket one wouldn't have to have the light-vents. Negative is it would need a custom bumper.

As I stated before the MKII will grow on me but nothing will beat the MKI tailights....

What im wondering though is, R people choosing the MKII because sub consciously its more so the colour than the shape... If the MKI was in black i think it would be getting a few more votes... Not to mention the MKII rims r much much eye friendly...

Just a thought

Ow... If someone could put up a pic of both MKI & II in black that would be much appreciated....

yep just like that. Was hoping for a side by side comparison but people will get the point... In any colour other than red(which hides the detail of the tail lights) the MKI is just porn from the back.... Just my opinion.....

I have a friend that just bought a Scion and he told me how it worked, they picked their car and added everything they wanted and got it installed; I dont know for sure but I'm guessing other dealerships don't have options like that to be installed aside from simple small things like ash trays, mudflaps, roof racks, bumper guards etc...
most dealers will install any "manufacturer aftermarket" parts for you at time of purchase. for example, in the current corolla, you can get a TRD lsd, TRD clutch, TRD suspension, etc... all dealer installed. all they need to do is order the parts and have their techs install the stuff.

- non electric locks (it's seriously no that hard to reach across in a 2dr)
- no cruise control
- no moonroof
- no power seats
- smallest alloy wheels you can fit (I'm guessing 16 or 17")--gonna be getting new wheels anyway.

would want LSD to come standard though. Or at least, as part of an optional track package with nicer brakes.
cruise control doesn't add weight. maybe 2 grams, if anything.

true. it would be very nice to be able to use an accessport on this.

you're taking it too literally. add lightness = remove weight = fancy materials/clever engineering

I was thinking more that it'd unnecessarily make the car more expensive, since I never use cruise control. Maybe it'd take off like $100 without it?

well, i definitely want cruise on mine. $100 is well worth it. all they need to add is the controls and load up the necessary logic into the ECU. electronic throttles are really nice for that sort of thing. this car will likely be taking over most of my road-trip duty, and cruise is necessary.

Are there any sub $40K cars out there that don't have cruise control? I'm guessing some high-end sports cars and supercars don't, but it would seem strange to hear about this car not getting it, no? Not that I want it or use it. In the 6 years I've had my car, I used the cruise control once and it was just to try it out (and yes, I do take long drives).

maybe your definition of long is different from mine. 12+ hour-per-day drives. sometimes at night (where it's nice to keep eyes on the road instead of the speedo).

there are some cars that don't have cruise. i believe i sat in a Mazda 2 recently that didn't have it. i think most of them will be sub $18,000.

Your definition of a long drive is the same as mine. But I'm sure I don't take "long drives" probably as much as you do. I only take road trips about once a year. I can definitely see how cruise would come in handy though. Like I side before, I don't mind if it comes with or without. If the price of the car isn't reduced by removing cruise control, I don't see a point in not having it in the car.
