mazda's 2010 model is 2450lbs curb, base trim... 2009 was just over 2400..
also, the specs are very similar to what we have so far on the FT, sounds like a direct competitor- including price point http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...ehicleCode=MX5 |

I hope with that size, Toyota could at list try what they did to the 3rd gen MR2 with only 980Kg(2150bs)
MR2 ZZW30 Wheelbase.........96.5in Lenght..............153in Width................66.7in Height...............48.8in Weight..............2150lbs(980Kg) |

It should be noted that the ZZW30 was an EXCELLENT cornering beast. When I worked at a Toyota dealership, I was interested to see how it felt. To my surprise it felt very similar to my AE86, if only a little bit more refined. Damn thing would hug corners like you couldn't believe. Good thing my bosses never found out. ![]() The main consensus now is 1200kg, since there was an article where Tada said the concept (read: CONCEPT) came in at 1200kg. Honestly ,however, I don't see how they couldn't shave it down to at least 1100. (~2400) in a final production bare-bones model. |

A yaris 4 door sedan is 2300lbs, if they can do that to this car or maybe close to that weight ill be happy, a realistic view on all the NA impreza right now ill say 160bhp. o yeah a co worker have the 2008 hyundai tiburon and found a good wheelbase match, hyundai tiburon has a 99.6 so ill say maybe its going to be the size of the tiburon?

as long as it is 2700lb or less it is a WIN with this car.
S2000 is about 2700lb with convertible roof. Its not as much about HP/weight ratio as lateral g load on tires and chassis stiffness when talking about Track Time Attack. Look at the GTR for example. There was an interview with the GTR designer. His ORIGINAL goal, according to the interview was to make the car have a certain size tire contact patch, match with 3800lb. Somehow he got the idea from F1 cars to determine how much the car is suppose to weigh, and he understands that under downforce the F1 car weighs "that much". His plan works extremely well with daily driving in all conditions. However, it sucks for track usage because of the tire load without downforce and tire load WITH downforce under lateral g forces. In conclusion, if the car had a naturally smaller "package", the car would not require huge brakes , which means the car can use smaller rims, as well as smaller tires. Naturally this should translate to smaller $$$ in producing the car because of less parts used. |

And doesn't feel heavy in the least. Of course it's got more power than the FT is speculated to have.
