While my only option a week ago was getting a manual, being shot in my right hand and loosing bones in my fingers will make it hard for me to shift now.
Look up on google: Ferrum College Hunting accident. Hunter thought me and my friends were a deer, so yea automatic might be my only option now. While automatics disconnect you from the car a bit, once u get used to them i hear they are quite fun. So yes if my hand does not recover i hope they make these in automatic. |

Thats horrible man. Its something so unthinkable. My heart and prayers go out to Jessica's family, and, at the very least, you weren't fatally shot as well. Stories like these that make you stop and really think about how life is... |

Thanks for the kind words man. People like you make me happy to be part of such a great car community.
If rehab goes well and the healing process as well I will hopefully be able to drive a manual again ![]() If not I hope they have some sort of SSR transmission like the new 2010 EVO X. ![]() Yea man, life has a whole new meaning to me now. Hopefully we meet up one day when we all have 86's!!:happy0180: |

Yet again another great forum member! Appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
Yea now that this has happened to me automatics make a helluva lot more sense. but i will do everything in my power to drive a stick shift again, trust me. If toyota is smart they will release a new form of automatic ($2000dollars over base price) to compete with the "sporty" automatics out there. So then I can atleast have some fun hearing this car roar. And most def on the :happy0180:'s

So long as manual is still an option I couldn't give a flying monkeys about whether or not they offer an automatic option.

To me it doesn't matter because I only feel comfortable driving a stick . In fact, I don't even feel safe driving a automatic because it doesn't feel right and when I do need to drive an automatic (friends car) I always have to remind myself there is no clutch and I don't need to shift up and down
back on topic.. the ft86 will definitely have an automatic option (which I hope doesn't come standard) because think about a large market they will be missing out on if it only came out in a 6spd. Last edited by HCN; 12-06-2009 at 08:01 PM. |

You seem worried about something that is not to be worried about. They will have the 6-MT standard....
Manual transmissions are cheaper so to keep costs down...you get the picture. Some automatics are great! There is a difference between a 4 speed econobox automatic and a SST/DSG/SMG/DGK Just gotta try em out. But yea, manual is my top choice as well. |

I hope the automatic comes out, the more 86's that are sold, the more aftermarket support there is going to be for this car. I am almost 100% sure the auto and manny will share the same motor/suspension/computer.
Plus it gives us that live in big cities an easier alternative; not that it matters to me. I will only drive stick regardless of where i live. (yes i have to deal with the 5MT in Manhattan sometimes)
