Also guys how good would this car be with snow tires on the snow lol. ( yes i know in a lot of situations it comes down to the driver...hopefully my dad will be around to help me out if anything happens) I want this to be my Daily driver. About the Synchro Rev Match option, I think it would be a nice addition to the FT-86. I've been looking into 370Zs for a while now and I have honestly not heard anything but praise about the system. Yes it takes the skill out of driving aggressively, but most of us that actually want it are newbies to manual, live in the city and/or plan to use this car as a daily. This car should be accessible to our driving habits as well as the planned weekend warriors. And considering that it could be an option rather than a required assist system, there is no loss to the hardcore enthusiasts.
From a guy who gave a harsh review of the 370Z after tracking it hard: "the SRM. Wow is this system impressive. This system alone is worth getting the sports package. I LOVE heel and toeing but the edge you get under braking with SRM is quite valuable too. It also helps lengthen the life of the clutch and transmission. AND it can be turned off." http://www.the370z.com/members-370z-...z-journal.html Last edited by blur; 09-08-2010 at 03:57 PM. |

DBW is becoming more common with emissions regulations becoming more strict. Toyota might bite the bullet but they probably won't, they have a green image to maintain. Now Subaru, I could see them doing that.
Regarding manual only. It makes sense for a free revving engine to be manual only, but the current EPA test favors automatics/CVTs as do US and Japanese consumers since at least the 90's if not decades earlier. OFFtopic: The CR-Z has all digital? I didn't notice that. I've been watching the updates on it, but mostly watching the drivetrain bits. I've been a big fan of the L series since they dropped IDiSi and that was only because I was not aware of the series back then. High compression on low octane, only the work of a small bore. If they actually bothered to build a premium octane version it could easily go beyond 11:1 Static Compression maybe just shy of 12:1 SCR. In my world a 2.0liter is a short stroke big block. But I digress. |

Lexus LFA has DBW. If it can be that awesome with it, I don't see why the FT-86 can't.

As for big bore, short stroke, that's typical of Subaru fours. EJ20 is 92mm bore X 75mm stroke. I'll have no complaints about a performance-focused DBW, but I've driven the Yaris with DBW and it's atrocious... completely unnatural feel and response.

^ I completely agree... I can slam the pedal to the floor and back to where it was in my dad's Mitsi outlander without the engine doing a thing... Feels completely wrong.
I hope they make it ultra-sensitive in the FT86. |

The Yaris is an economy car, and a very bad example. The Aveo, I hear, is also just as bad. DBW is a computer and computers are good for? don't say porn. The answer is hacking! no joke.
If it isn't a static part, it can be modified. As an example a better ground improves response on the Focus DBW. If there is a laggy response I'm pretty sure it can be modded. The Mazda RXs have an electric throttle and they are well known for their snappy throttle response. |

There are aftermarket controllers already out for DBW, I'n not too worried, but my first impression wasn't good, that's all.
