Yes, our header will bolt-up directly to the two-bolt flange on the stock over-pipe.

You'll likely need to just avoid Fairfax County. Seriously though, you will need to run a resonated or muffled mid pipe and large muffler(s). A catted front-pipe will help keep you legal in terms of having a cat in place too.

"We'll likely offer an optional stainless steel puzzle piece header heat shield system later on down the road."

Would love more info on this for us California drivers.

Haha, that was one of the future questions coming along. Has someone asked for a single exit turbo setup with all this in place. I'm pretty sure I read that you guys tested the single and dual exit and didn't find a significant flow difference, correct?

We might not have variable lift, but sure have a nice torque dip to make it feels like it has Mini-vvtil. Haha

The idea would be to make a heavy gauge stainless steel plate or possibly even inconel that bolts between the header and engine/cylinder head to reduce radiant heat onto the engine. We would also make a piece(s) to position above the header to reduce underhood heat as well. The pieces would help to sort of encapsulate the header and allow for better heat retention. Basically the same way factory headers and exhaust manifolds are done. Maybe we could also stamp Subaru on the upper piece to help out the Cali folks. BTW, kinda, sorta kidding on that last comment.

Generally speaking, you would expect a single exhaust system to outperform a dual (BTW, I'm referring to a typical 4 cylinder platform like this where the dual split occurs behind the rear axle). However, due to the design layout of our dual exhaust system, we've managed to make the same power with our dual exhaust system when configured in single exhaust mode.

To answer the questions posted about sound. We'll have a dyno video clip posted by tomorrow. Our header and 3" header-back exhaust system, as is, will definitely be loud. We would have performed a sound level test using our db meter, but I think that this combination will be too loud for most owners.

We'll test our header with a 2.5" over-pipe and front-pipe when we get our first local customer cars in for installation and dyno tuning with the header. I honestly don't foresee any major power differences to our 3" test set-up.

Our intention was to dyno test our header with an exhaust system that we had on hand. We're considering potentially building a 2.5-2.75 inch header/over-pipe/front-pipe combo using the v-band that we have in place with our header. What do you think about running 3 inch back to the axle, where the gasses have likely cooled somewhat then stepping down to ~2.5 inch for the mufflers? Could a set up like that keep the best aspects of both worlds, allow you to stock fewer parts, and allow easier upgrades later? Or would it still be too loud?

I don't think that would be such a bad idea. I think an efficient header, over-pipe, front-pipe combo that can bolt-on to an existing 2.5" cat-back exhaust system may be just the ticket for getting the best of both worlds in terms of performance and sound. I think a 2.5" mid-pipe would probably be fine too.
Sometimes I wish we had more than 3 shop FR-S' for testing with. Only one is NA at the moment.

i live in fairfax >.<

i'm running a resonated 3" Perrin catback, and 2.5" Perrin overpipe.

just how much louder does this header make things? can i stop down and listen to it?

See, I know you guys said no UEL because you focus on performance, but an argument can be made that if you guys did make a UEL it would be the highest performing UEL on the market. So, that's something.

Either way, those are some gorgeous numbers. If I wanted EL this would be tempting...
