Yeah, I am not sure if he saying that is too fast or too slow. I know 55+5 is fast enough for me. You would have to have balls the size of coconuts to run 55 through a few of the corners you will see on the 28th.

So I'm not really seeing any activity here regarding peoples interest in the after-drive BBQ. In the interest in politeness to Terry and his family, if we don't hear anything soon--say a week--I'm just going to say we ditch the BBQ (even though BBQ is delicious).

I'm in for either - if there's a BBQ I'll hang out but if not I'll just head home - its not a far drive for me

I'm not sure yet. Depends on when we will approximately be done, and if I want to do AutoX the next day.

The BBQ does not have to be an all or nothing decision either. If there are a few that want to hang out for a while then we can accomodate them. We just need a head count of those that are interested. Basically, it would be sitting around a fire, BSing and eating a little food. It is all casual. There is no commitment to stay any certain length of time. The only requirement is to complete the rest of the route by doing RT146 and RT 313 until you get to the property. Those that chose not to do it may be better served to just continue north on RT 60 through Zanesville to catch I 70.
I may have misspoke on the duration of the drive. It was originally supposed to be 2:44 long. I am adding a retrace that will add about 20 minutes. We should be completing the route sometime around 3:30PM not 4PM as I said earlier. Again, that all depends on stops for photos and comfort. Edit Friday June 6th: I did some more scouting today. OK, I just used that as an excuse to drive the roads some more. Everything is looking good. There was a little road construction going on but none of it was on roads that we will be using that day. The Banana Peel will be expecting us on that Saturday. Those that want to grab lunch there may do so and we can eat inside or use the pavilion and picnic tables out back. We will start the drive from there.

I think we can safely say there is not much interest in the cookout/BBQ idea. That will make final planning that much easier. I plan to write out the entire route with route and turn information along with the original map. We should plan on meeting at the Banana Peel on RT 83 just south of I 70 at 11 AM. Then we can start the drive sometime around 11:30-11:45 depending on waiting on stragglers and people who want lunch finishing up eating.
The very first short part of the route is not the greatest road but something we added in because we are no longer starting from Terry's place. After that the drive gets more interesting. Planned stops include Big Musky Bucket and Burr Oak State Park. Both present photo ops. We also have options to alter the route on the fly to cut out driving time or allow people to easily cut out part of the route on their own and head home if they so choose. Those that want the full experience can continue on and finish the route the same place that we started from. I will produce maps/directions to hand out on the morning of the run. Now it is just a matter of waiting and hoping for great weather.

since we will not be doing a cookout, maybe the remainder of people can stop at a local place when we are finished, they would like. I like the idea of BBQ, however, I do not like the idea of your family taking on any additional stress during the weekend.
That is why I did not respond. |

I'm still planning on it. I have a sticking rear brake caliper issue I need to sort out but I've got plenty of time to fix that problem.

Drive begins at approximately 11:30AM Turn L on RT83 (N) Turn L on Sunflower Rd Turn R on Pleasant Hills Rd Turn L on Rix Mills Rd Turn L on RT313 (E) Turn R on RT83 (S) Turn R on RT78 (W) Photo Op at Big Musky Bucket (gravel drive and parking, stay to side of drive to avoid scraping if lowered) Turn R on RT78 (W) Follow RT78 through McConnelsville and cross bridge (obey speed limit and rally beyond bridge to regroup) Continue on RT78 (W) towards Glouster Photo Op at Burr Oak State Park Turn R on RT13/RT93 (N) Turn R on RT669 (E) Follow RT669 To Muskingham River and Retrace to RT555 (dotted area on map, turn around to retrace may be awkward but worth it) Turn L on RT555 (S) Turn L on RT37 (E) Follow RT 37/RT78 across bridge into McConnelsville (obey speed limit) Turn R on RT60 (S) Go short distance and bear L at Y onto W Jefferson Ave Follow to traffic light Turn L on RT 376 (N) At intersection of RT60 and RT376 is the North Star restaurant which is a possible place to stop for food drinks and conversation. Turn R on RT60 (N) Anyone wanting to end the drive may take RT60 north through Zanesville and catch I70. Anyone wanting more driving can take RT60 north to Mill St in Duncan Falls (first street on right past traffic light) and Turn R Turn R on RT146 (E) Bear L on RT313 (E) Turn L on RT83 (N) to I70 Expected duration approximately 3 hours plus stops.
