I was considering a 335i, a Focus ST, and the Genesis Coupe, in that order. None really came close to influencing my decision, except for maybe the 335i since I'm normally quite a BMW enthusiast.
I'm sure my next car after this will be an M3 (or M4 or whatever they decide to call it) in 3-5 years, and this will become my track slut.

Honestly started out looking at the scion tc
then got interested in the frs then looked at the brz then looked at the wrx then looked at the Toyota celica then looked at the camry then back to the frs and brz also glanced at the genesis and some mustangs but didn't really like also looked at the jetta tdi and a Volvo something but wasn't sold on their prices brz interior (and the fact its Japanese) sort of won me over at that price point |

I was on the hunt for another S2000 since a few days after I regrettably got rid of my S2000 after owning it for 7 years. They are priced so damn high and finding a clean unmolested one with low miles is getting nearly impossible. 3 years later...a test drive in the BRZ quickly made me change my mind on thinking the S2000 is THE only car to own. It's cool, yes, but the BRZ is tons of fun + has back seats + nice amenities that the S2000 does not offer. Plus owning a new car vs. used car for approx the same price, I chose new BRZ.

Was very close to signing papers for a Silver G37s with little KM for about the same price as a new BRZ. Car was sold hours before I got to the dealership...
After months of back and forth between a BRZ, G37s and 370Z. I decided to get a 2013 SSM BRZ! Lower insurance rate, maintenance, MPG and "Go Kart" like handling was a big factor. Not to mention, the BRZ looks better imo than both cars. The only major advantages the G37s and 370z had over the BRZ that I noticed was power, technology and the G37 exhaust note. Didn't really like the fact that 2/10 down the pedal, you're already at speed limit. Still awaiting pick up of my BRZ! This time, I made a deposit so everything is set

Was going to hold out to see if Nissan would at least make a S16 Silvia concept but nope. FR-S was DOA when they chose to bring it over gutted and as a Scion so BRZ Limited was the only true successor for the 240sx that had the features and stylings that I wanted.

Sold my Legacy GT and didn't even consider looking at anything else other then the BRZ! I had made my mind up long time ago and when the Legacy sold, it was a no brainer. |

New
2013 328i (refined and fun to drive but every nascar gf, wife or fwb drives a bimmer around here) 2013 370z Touring (v6 power that decides when it wants to show up vs when you ask for it, shitastic gear box, seats designed by someone who likes torture) 2013 Camaro SS (wayyy to many of these driven by 22-30 year olds, oversized flowmasters and fugly 20s) Used 2011 Corvette (6.2l) Everything I looked at had more HP but I liked the style of the BRZ. Besides I have access to lots of other things if I want to go fast. The biggest thing was the above new cars are a dime a dozen in my area. I work with three former special forces guys going thru their mid life crisis that own vettes and its kinda sad when they all park next to each other on Friday afternoons. 45 year olds talking about p90x and which car cover is the softest. Worst car I drove when I was looking was the challenger r/t 6 spd with the 5.7, its just a hateful awful car on every level. |

I know the title says "BRZ," but they are basically the same car to me, so I figured I'd post this anyway. I don't see a thread like this in the FR-S section (and if there is one, it's not active). Anyways,
I was actually in the market for a 4th Gen Celica GT-S (2000-2006), but I just couldn't find anything anywhere for even remotely close to blue book value after months and months of looking. Then I found the FR-S when I did a search for fuel efficient lightweight sporty coupes. I had seen it last winter at an auto show in Cleveland, and I loved the styling when I originally saw it. After reading the specs on it, it pretty much hit the nail on the head (and exceeded) in every category that I wanted the Celica for, except it was RWD instead of FWD, which was a major upside to me. It took me about a week to decide if I wanted to continue shopping around for a Celica with ~80k miles for ~$6,000 or if I wanted to pull the trigger and buy a brand new car. Ultimately, I decided that I would go to the dealership and take an FR-S for a test drive. I told myself that the test drive would be the deciding factor. Needless to say, I fell in love with the FR-S. The dealership had a 10 Series, and a couple of base models. I really wanted the Firestorm, but they didn't have it on site (it was at a festival about an hour away, on display). At the same time, I liked the interior features of the 10 Series so much more. I went home that night and mulled it over, decided that a 10 Series would hold its value much better in the long run, and went to the dealership and bought the 10 Series the next day. From what I've read, there were only 700 MT 10 Series released, so I feel like I lucked out. I've had the car since late August (2013), I'm at around 1,500 miles already, all I've done to her is install a K&N Air Filter and have all of the fluids swapped, and I couldn't be happier. |
