Regarding the cost, I think you are wrong. Toyota could have made a rwd coupe cheaper, but they decided not. In my opinion, they over engineered. Original AE86 was a cheap fun. FT86 is something much more "sophisticated" (or they want us to believe so). I am not really as sophisticated or peculiar about what is fun as most of people on this forum, so would have been happy to buy something less sophisticated, a bit heavier and more affordable. I am not paying $25K big for a Toyota/Scion car, but if BRZ is only a few hundred bucks away, I am at least back to the negotiation table. |

^it's 500 per month.
I don't think Subaru has to worry about cannibalizing sales because they already sell every car that they make (well, not the Tribeca). There may be some people who go in to buy a BRZ and end up with a WRX, or go in to buy a Forester and end up in an XV, but Subaru will still make money off them and they will still have no problem selling the BRZ or Forester to someone else. |

i suspect the only reason why it was branded a scion here in NA is due to toyota's internal political play and nothing more. |

Isn't your tax rate around 8-8.5% which is $2,380 in taxes alone. Add your tag/title/dealer fees and you are well over $30k, probably approaching $31k. |

I'm not sure what rates are there, but are you going by the assumption that sales tax = car tax? It doesn't always work that way. Here in SC there is a maximum 300 dollar sales tax on cars.

Max of $300 sales tax? Wow, that is awesome. Very jealous. Yeah I was under the assumption that sales tax is levied on the car tax. Didn't realize other states did it differently (should have guessed that).

Subaru said no way, RWD is dangerous, an un-possible anyways Toyota facepalmed and sent some engineering interns to hack up a Legacy and make it RWD and actually turn in. 2 Years later Subaru said 'ZOMGWTFBBQ HOW DID YOU DO THAT??? We want one too!" Heh...
