Haha thatta boy
And yeah, there has been lots of discussion on the forums regarding the break-in period. Some swear by it, while others disregard it. Do what you want, and just have fun driving you car!

Yeah there are two schools of thought on the break in period.

Outside of those on the board that have assured me the car will be fine as long as I dont constantly red line it I have two good friends who are mechanics.
Both of them told me drive the car now like I intend to drive it long term. They both told me babying an engine early on and then riding it hard later actually increases the risk of f'ing something up.

Well.. You can believe the word of your friends.. Or put some value in the Toyota/Subaru engineers who designed and built the car as to how it should be broken in.. It's just not the engine you are breaking in.. Gears, brakes, etc.. Are forming wear patterns that will last the life of the car.. I see these comments and arguments all the time on forums.. And all I hear is anecdotal comments from those who flog their cars from day one with no problems... Vs factual information and results from the designers and engineers who design, engineer and build the cars... Having bought many a used and new car... It's easy to tell which ones were abused from day one... Vs one that was properly broken in and maintained.. It's your car, your money... Enjoy !

Bought May 2012. 8500 miles now. I had bought a new motorcycle the month before the car so I've split my time between them.
