They haven't released the technical specs yet for the FRS in the WC. Most of the cars run what I'd estimate to be around 350hp. The FRS will be a little lighter than the rest of the GTS class, so it could be a little under that.

Also remember this is a race car so it's not going to be streetable focus. I'm sure much of the R&D and lessons learned will go back to Toyota.

Looks like it will come close to blocking the installation of a front strut bar. Can't fully tell from this angle.

Maybe the strut to firewall bars that we got were a design consideration for the future release of a TRD supercharger, much like the frameless windows more elegantly allow for a convertible iteration.

i like how it uses the factory intake box.
that pully seems pretty small, not much room for improvement?
That is not a particularly small pulley for a TVS, you can get pulleys a lot smaller than that.

Do you have any idea how much a 2JZ weighs, let alone what is required to make one fit in the engine bay?

Just because its been done doesn't mean it's a good idea....

Considering the offerings out there right now I think Toyota will have to be somewhat competitive in their pricing and power to sell any units. Unlike their other Scion/Toyota models the amount of power adders in the aftermarket for the FRS are already much greater than for any of their other lineup.

If they come out with a SC that is double the price, and 1/2 the hp they will likely be disappointed with their sales. Also this line "The TRD team, in collaboration with their business partner Magnuson Products LLC, developed and built the supercharger for the car in an impressive 15 weeks." is worrisome.

Considering Nameless, with just a header & exhaust, made similar low end gains as another SC that we've seen a few dyno plots for, I think Toyota would be hard pressed to not be competitive.

Upon rethinking my statement from earlier, the TRD brakes are also in a group of similar offerings and priced WAY above those.

A couple of people have mentioned it but my understanding is that no TRD part will validate the warranty. As it stands;

TRD Sport Parts
TRD Sport Parts INSTALLED BY A DEALER

TRD Sport Parts are warranted for 12 months or 12,000 miles from the date of installation or for the balance of the new car warranty in force on the date of installation, whichever is greater, when TRD Sport Parts are installed by an authorized Toyota or Scion Dealer. Superchargers carry the same warranty, but the coverage is 12 months or 12,000 miles from the date of installation or the balance of the new car 5 year, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty in force at the time of installation. This warranty does not cover maintenance services such as replacement of brake pads/linings and clutch linings. This warranty does not cover noise, vibration, cosmetic conditions and other deterioration caused by normal wear and tear.
TRD customers are responsible for ensuring that the use of any TRD Sport Part complies with all applicable federal, state or local laws, regulations and ordinances.

Again, you can YouTube or search the article. They have stated that they went to TRD JP to make this sc kit. I know this, I was there when they were getting interviewed... or maybe I was high or tired from that long trip (LA to LV) & misheard it. Who knows

I'm with Blaine on that one Ichi. Pretty sure the rule is that it has to be available for US cars in order for F/I to be legal for the series. They ran a TRD S/C for the Scion tC previously of course.

I think the rules are ambiguous as to what country the part must be made available to:

ARTICLE 2.1: PURPOSE AND INTENT
2.1.1: The purpose of the Pirelli World Challenge is to provide an opportunity
for teams and manufacturers to showcase their vehicles and products
through a Championship Series of closed-circuit speed events.
2.1.2: In keeping with this purpose, vehicles and products used in the
series must be identifiable with the vehicles and products offered for sale
to the public and available through the manufacturer’s normal distribution
channels.

end

Also note that any ECU can be used, IE custom tuning. The power of these cars has nothing to do with what will be released to the public.

EDIT: An interesting note is that the headlights must be stock but can be from any country the car is sold in. So perhaps other parts can be used that are not sold in America? Just a thought.
