I got in my nice new Subaru BRZ with sterling silver metallic paint. It was shiny and recently cleaned up front to back. It had a fresh oil change. I hit the garage door opener switch on the sun visor and the door started to open. With the safety belt snapped in place I reached for the starter to turn the key. "Wait', I thought, "what am I actually going to do?" I thought, and thought and thought. I just couldn't think of anything to do. Maybe it is because I am not stupid. I hit that garage door opener again and it began closing. Time to grab a beer, relax and get some laughs watching some REALLY stupid people on "Judge Judy".
smart play! somebody's watchin' out for ya! maybe judge judy?

A t-bone while stopped at a traffic light seems to be quite a unique situation altho not knowing the specifics any further comment would not be helpful.

The drunk driver in a parking lot situation is an anomaly to a defensive driver but that's why we all (at least most) have auto insurance.
I ride bikes too. You look at the road differently as a motorcyclist even when behind the wheel of a car.

When I was t-boned I was at a red light right at the front and a guy tried to take the right turn down my road going about 40 when it was rainy whilst driving a plywood infused Isuzu Rodeo. He didn't make the turn as he had hoped. Turned out he was high(quite common in AK) and had a few drinks as well.

I agree, if you survive riding a bike ffort a few years you know a lot about road surfaces and leaving space to stop.

Haven't had a fender bender, ding or bump in over 160,000 miles. Drive in Michigan and California. I experience much more high speed traffic in Orange County (CA) and LA county and find that drivers in CA are much more courteous and experienced. Can't comment on New England.

4. Texting while driving

If there is anyone we should be "pissed" at, shouldn't it be the insurance company? What about all these great drivers on FT86CLUB? With all these great drivers not getting into any accidents, where is the money that you pay every month for insurance that you you'll never need to claim because you are such great drivers? Maybe. There are a lot of things that could go wrong, but many are avoidable.

Hey, Jay! That IS you! It's cool to see you on here. AKIC misses ya. haha

I drive like I'm a target. All my AK friends that ride bikes know to do this and for me it's just instinct. I treat EVERYONE like they're a terrible driver and aren't paying attention.

I do applaud drivers that drive like they actually realize they're sharing the road. I actually DO applaud them, like the slow clapping in my car when I can take my hands off the steering wheel.

Just think, if we all avoided getting in accidents we could run the insurance companies out of business. But, no, can't do it. There will always be someone who will cause the damage, personal property or injury, and have no insurance. Then one is out of luck. I, for one, don't occupy the public roads without insurance. I will make inSUREance of that scenario.
MY BRZ wouldn't like it as well.

I miss the AK chapter too! I want to try and make it back up there someday. I sold my bike since everyone in Baltimore drives like they are crazy. I still drive the car the same way though. I've seen too many accidents happen right in front of me!
